1 | Are we supposed to observe the Sabbath? | Bible general Archive 2 | manonamission | 236071
Really? How many lay men and women stop to think about passive voice etc when reading the Scriptures? There is no where in the Bible that says the first day is the sabbath. But it does say the seventh day. The fourth commandment is our instruction to keep the Sabbath which is the seventh day of the week which is Saturday. The weekly Calander as far as I can determine has never been changed. The first day of the week is Sunday. Personally I have for years used Sunday as my day of worship and since I have seen the new light about the 1st and 7th day I wonder if I have been breaking the 4th commandment all this time.

good for you!! The Shabbes was made holy and set-apart after the six days of creation and it has never changed. It was a day of rest given to mankind and that has never changed. The RCC are the ones who proudly proclaim the change from Shabbes to Sunday. Let them have it. Obey God's commands and you'll do just fine. |

In Genesis 2:1-3 God rested on the seventh day and blessed and sanctified it and is the fourth commandment, remember the sabbath day to keep it holy,Now when Christ was crucified only the blood ordinances such as sacrificing of animals and circumcision was nailed to the cross,Colossians 2:16,17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink,or in respect of an holyday,or of the new moon,or of the sabbath days: 17.Which are a shadow of things to come ;but the body is of Christ,1 Corin. 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us. Christ in Hebrews 4 is our rest,Christ is our passover,Christ is our sabbath seven days a week not one day, As far as the law Christ said in Matt.5:18 For verly I say unto you Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Christ taught in Matt.24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 of seven events or prophesies had to happen before his return and they will be fulfilled in this generation of the fig tree, all these things have not happened yet.REV.22:18,19 For I (Christ) testify unto every man that hearth the words of the prophecy of this book,If any man shall add unto these things,God shall add unto him the plagues that are writtenin this book: 19. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.I take these two verses very serious.

Keeping the Sabbath was the outward sign of the covenant, and it's important to keep it on the seventh day-Saturday. Jews and some Christians observe this, it honors the creator God and his creative work and identifies us as his people.
