Did I say "that there was no grace or forgiveness in the OT?" Please provide some scriptural references concerning someone in the OT who was saved "by grace, through faith.” ie Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Noah found Grace in the eyes of the Lord. Abraham, Moses, David, Isaiah and many others did the same. By the way, Abraham was the father of faith. What other commands of the Lord did they follow? What was the role of the law in OT times? Gen 15:6 And he had faith in the Lord, and it was put to his account as righteousness. But did righteousness provide salvation? Has it ever? I don’t think so. Why did the Lord require sacrifices in OT times? I still contend that, in a more literal sense, OT salvation depended on “living right, sacrificing and obeying the word of God.” Likewise today, we are told to live as Jesus did. To do so we must make some sort of sacrifices on a daily basis, whether it be avoiding an argument even when we know we are right, committing some act of kindness at our own expense, or what. Back then, they simply had to believe Gods Word and live it. Today one simply has to believe in the Son He sent to pay our sin debt, confess our sins, repent and accept His gift. The rest will come with spiritual growth. GB |

GB, I understand what you are saying, but to me that is sounding like salvation by works. Righteousness was a gift from God, not merited by man's works. |

I give up! As I noted in an earlier post, I am familiar with the antics of many who use these boards. Your antics are obvious and I have no desire for farther debate. Open your bible. Read it with an open mind and closed mouth, for it will be of no benifit for you to yack at it either. Then read it again. Discussion ended. GB |
