Subject: Christians before Jesus came |
Bible Note: Gen 15:6 And he had faith in the Lord, and it was put to his account as righteousness. But did righteousness provide salvation? Has it ever? I don’t think so. Why did the Lord require sacrifices in OT times? I still contend that, in a more literal sense, OT salvation depended on “living right, sacrificing and obeying the word of God.” Likewise today, we are told to live as Jesus did. To do so we must make some sort of sacrifices on a daily basis, whether it be avoiding an argument even when we know we are right, committing some act of kindness at our own expense, or what. Back then, they simply had to believe Gods Word and live it. Today one simply has to believe in the Son He sent to pay our sin debt, confess our sins, repent and accept His gift. The rest will come with spiritual growth. GB |
