Bible Note: Chesed While the Trinity certainly existed in the Old Testament your right in that God did not fully reveal the nature of Messiah other than He would pay the price for sin. As time pressed on God revealed more, He was shown to be Son of David, And when draw closer to the time of His birth we see God revealing even more information. God also started to introduce the Holy Spirit as the Old Testament writers began using terms like The Spirit was upon him or David had the Spirit of God. One other thing to consider, while the Bible is clear to lead one to salvation I do not believe one can see all the intricacies of the Bible Theology without the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament we know the men and women acted as the Spirit lead them. So I see no mystery in believing the Holy Spirit illuminated the prophecy of the coming to Messiah to the Old Testament saints. You said we see and understand the Messianic prophecies today by 20 20 hindsight and in point your correct, however in many cases the Holy Spirit is still required to fully illuminate the total truth of them and I believe He did that in the Old Testament times as well.
