Greetings Emmaus, I read this with interest because I am aware of a situation in a local RC Church where a child was refused baptism. The mother was unwed, and instead of choosing abortion, she chose life. After giving life to this child, she desired for the child to be baptized and was refused. In light of what you have posted, how could this happen? I love the words of Rick Warren in "The Purpose Driven Life" where he saud, "there may be illegitmat parents but there are no illegitimate children." Each one is planned by God. Blessings, mommapbs |

mommapbs - My wife has just read Warren's "The Purpose-Driven Life" and put it on the huge stack of required reading for me. She reads everything she gets her hands on and keeps adding to the stack of books that I "simply must" read. I'm hopelessly behind and have long since abandoned hope of ever being able to wade through all those books. Just today she began "The Prayer of Jabez." That's where I draw the line! I don't intend to read it, although I know it will end up on the stack of my required reading. I've been a fairly dedicated reader all my life and have read a great deal indeed. But I can't keep up with my dear wife Dottie, bookworm extraordinaire! --Hank | ||||||

Hank - The "Prayer" belongs in the circular file as far as I'm concerned - just another "program" or attempt to manipulate God. Warren's book is NOT a program, per se - other than he expects a reader to complete it in 40 days . . . I'd really like to spend a whole lotta time digesting what he is saying . . . although this book is interwined with Scripture - and he uses MANY different version, translations etc. - it is still a book and not THE Book but I believe it is worth your time to read. I would covet your review of the same. I am leading a study of this text at the present time and I find the questions to be thought provoking. The additional Scripture studies are an excellent source for further introspection. I have MANY questions that this reading has prompted and I'm "supposed" to be the leader! But, God and I are "in process" and I'm sure He will answer me in His way and in His time. Do let me know what you think of the book. Blessings, mommapbs PS: Dottie could make better use of her time - how about laundry or baking or taking out the trash (with The Prayer of Jabez in it!) |
