Greetings everyone, I have just done a word search and only found 11 posts containing this word. It seems that no one is bothered by it, it's a doctrine that is as old as time and is as relevant as tomorrow. In times past it was of great importance but now in the "civilised" age do we "Protestants" have an answer or are we content/complacent? What is he on about? I was asked a simple enough question, " when a child dies, in the age of innocence, where does the soul go and how can the soul return to Heaven if sin is not allowed into the presence of Holy God? The word I was researching was," Limbo" the Catholic doctrine that is their answer, what is ours? Please do not waste time in telling me the rights and wrongs of this doctrine, or resurrect the old argument between scriptural and traditional, just give me an answer, or your understanding of this question. Thank you all and may the Holy Spirit inspire us. SHALOM RJJ. |

RJJ, The apostil Paul wrote, I did not know sin except by the Law. The Bible tells us that we are to be judged on our works weather they were good or evil. When a child dies not knowing the law then there is no judgement for sin. The Bible states that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of Heavan. Sence a child dies their flesh returnes back to the dust of the earth and the child goes to God.They are in Heavan with Jesus. This is how I answer those with that question. DL5

Hi RJJ, The answer to that is easy, Jesus. What if Herod had succeded in killing Jesus as a baby, Jesus would have died without any Judgement for sin. When we die we pay the debt for sin with our life, But we are judged on our works. All of us hafe to die because of our relationship to Adam, but we live because of our relationship to Christ. This is how I answer. DL5.

Hi RJJ, I would like to respond to the question. First of all we have to remember that God knows all of his elect. He knew all in the old covenant and before and he knows all today. If you were in the camp of Israel while they were in the wilderness and a child died that was an Egyption what would happen to that child. That child would be lost. Egypt is a type of lost mankind or false religion that is why God called them out of it. If you were Gods chosen in the camp of Israel and a child died they would go to Abrahams bosoom. Today if a true child of God dies their soul goes to the lord. In Pauls writtings Paul wanted to be with the lord but he found that itwas more expedient for him to stay with the church at that time. Why was he so anxious to die? What do all christians want? To see the lord face to face Though he had to wait for the ressurection for his new body. If Jesus died for you your sins are paid for. If you are not saved you pay for your own sins. Either you are saved or you are lost. Their is no pergatory. If a person dies today do think you can pray him back to life? no and when a person dies literally and he is lost you can not pray him back to spiritual. It is impossible. We are saved by faith through grace. Eph.2:2-9 We are not saved by works. We are saved to good works not by good works. In Rev.17:8 you will find when the book of life was written. Before the foundation of the world. So you see God knows all those who will be in his kingdom.

Greetings Jephthae, thank you for your post. If you go to post #99421 you will be able to read my conclusion to this question, I am sorry that your post was not part of that conclusion but I hope that you agree with ny conclusion. May I point out that the question was regarding where children went when they died, so purgatory was not the issue. Nor was the issue, the election/predestination or the foreknowledge of God or even the issue of free will of God/man. All good debatable topics which I am sure has been debated already many times. This of course does not stop you raising them again as questions, I am sure that someone will debate with you, possibly I will. I note that this is one of your first notes, so welcome to the Forum and keep them coming!! SHALOM. RJJ |
