1 Cor 15:1-4 (NASB) Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. (The New American Standard Bible, 1995 Update, La Habra, California: The Lockman Foundation, 1996.) There is no need whatsoever to speculate about what the Gospel is. No need to write an essay on it. No need to give one's own definition. The Gospel is plainly defined in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. The Gospel is the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, according to the scriptures. |

I wasn't asking for speculation. And if there is no need to write an essay on it, then why did Paul write so much? :)

He was trying to explain to people how to live right. As you can surmiss from the Bible, Israel sure didn't know how and they were God's chosen people. The gentiles sure didn't have any idea, he had to start from scatch w/them. :) Some of us need to be started from scratch too. The gospel is the good news about Jesus, Paul's epistles are telling us how to live it.
