People often say that they do not believe in Christ because they have never seen him at work. Other than answers that can be cast aside (such as the beauty and intricacy of nature) can you think of any specific examples of the proof of the existence of Christ?

From secular sources -- and by "secular" I mean pagan, non-Christian, non Jewish -- there are some 65 accounts of Jesus' historicity from such writers as Tacitus, Lucian of Samosata, Suetonius, Pliny the Younger, Thallus, Phlegon, and Mara Bar-Serapion. Extra-biblical Jewish sources for the historicity of Jesus are numerous, the best known being the Babylonian Talmud and the Testimonium of Josephus. Among Christian extra-biblical accounts are the pre-New Testament creedal confessions that were formulated and passed on verbally before the facts of the Christian faith were recorded in the books of the New Testament. Moreover there is a vast number of Messianic prophecies -- some 400 of them -- recorded in the pages of the Old Testament long before the Advent of Christ, every one of which was fulfilled by the birth, life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus of Nazareth. The proof of the historicity of Jesus is overwhelming. It is a fact that if we had no New Testament record of Christ and His life at all, it is possible to reconstruct from purely secular sources alone very ample, abundant, and unimpeachable proof of His historicity. --Hank
