Have you ever heard the story of how a shepard suposidly will break the leg of a lamb that strays then carry it on his neck? Where does that come from? I have heard it related to what our Good Shepard will do to us, and I just don't agree with that at all. I just wondered if anyone knows where it started? Thanks. |

tlcsal: This is a story preachers have used in what a shepherd will do to save a sheep from dying on a cliff. A good book to read is A SHEPHERD LOOKS AT THE 23rd PSALM. This book goes into great detail on what a shepherd has to do tokeep his sheep healthy and grazing well. justme |

This is an excellent book (written by Phillip Keller) but I do not recall anything about breaking a lamb's leg. However, I can see how that could be used in relating to what the Lord could do to us. If a shepherd has a lamb that is continually straying and other's are following it, in order to save it's life, a broken leg would limit it's mobility, even after it healed. Doesn't the Lord do that to us sometimes? If we are involved in hurtful practices or have other sins in our lives that He wants to remove from us in order to use us - this could be pride, lust, etc.- He could allow a very painful situation to arise that would remove us from this sin so that we could live and ultimatly reap the joys of being in closer fellowship with Him.
