1 | Are we still under the Ten Commandments? | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 48609
Are we to still abide by the 10 commandments? Let me see: One of those commandments says: Thou shalt not kill (murder) Is it ok today to murder? I hope not! Another commandment says: Thou shalt not steal Is it ok today to steal? I don't think so! Another commandement says not to lie Is lying ok now? While it's rampant I think it is just as wrong today as it was when the 10 commandments were given Another commandment says not to covet Is coveting ok these days? Again I would have to say no! Should we put God first and love Him above all? I think the answer to that is also yes. Should believers honor the Sabbath day I can only speak for myself and say yes. Should we honor our mother and father? I would say yes Should we abide by the 10 commandments? I say yes we should But God gives us the desire to do so, as long as we continue in unbroken fellowship with Him. |

3 | Law or grace or both? | Bible general Archive 1 | Timothy Paul | 48622
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. John 1:17 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Romans 13:1 Yes they can and should be mixed, but the difference is, there are those that think that following the law (works) will get them into heaven. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8,9 keep questioning, the answer is there Tim |

Hi, We cannot make it to heaven by keeping the the Law, because the Law is spiritual and we are carnal (physical). (Romans 7:14). Once we recieve the Holy Spirit we can begin to follow the Law, we will fall occasionnally, like a young child who is learning to walk, but by the grace of God, we get up and continue on the path that Christ has revealed to us. (Romans 7:25,Romans 8:4), (Gal 5:16)
5 | Law and Christ vs Law or Christ? | Bible general Archive 1 | TooTooSmart | 48638
If we can mix law and grace, why does Paul tell us in Galatians 5:4 that "Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law, ye are fallen from grace." This tells me that: Christ has set us free from the law's requirements by fulfilling them in Himself. Neither circumcision nor any other requirement of the law is beneficial to Christians. Faith in Christ is what counts. |
