Bible Question:
If we can mix law and grace, why does Paul tell us in Galatians 5:4 that "Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law, ye are fallen from grace." This tells me that: Christ has set us free from the law's requirements by fulfilling them in Himself. Neither circumcision nor any other requirement of the law is beneficial to Christians. Faith in Christ is what counts. |
Bible Answer: Hi, Understanding the difference between "being JUSTIFIED by the Law"(Gal 5:14) and trying to keep the Law because it is holy and just and good, is the key (Rom 7:12). If we could keep the law perfectly then the law could justify us, but being carnal we can't keep the law. We are saved by the grace of God, so do we then show our appreciation by turning our backs on that which God has given us, that which is "Holy, Just and Good? Paul states he "delights in the law" in Romans 7:22. If we decide we no longer have to live by the law, then how do you KNOW what is right and what is wrong? (Rom 3:20)Do you decide what is right or do you let the WORD of God show you through the LAW. Because we are no longer under the penalty of the law do we now sin?(Romans 6:15) LOVE IS THE KEEPING OF THE COMMANDMENTS. 1John 5:3 |
