Hello again, I will not enter into a debate with you, as I mentioned in my last post. However you are leaning towards defending your stand, and that's alright. Yes I have looked at another person with lust in my heart, but I wasn't "masturbating in my mind," I was committing adultery! You have misunderstood what I was trying to relate to you. Yes sin is sin, and no I'm not attempting to rate sin. I'm saying masturbation IS sin. When I accepted Jesus into my heart, God remembered my sins no more. However, the born-again experience not only raised me to a higher standard of living, but God also is renewing my mind to that standard (Romans 12:1-2). IN this process I'm making adjustments in my life as I look into the mirror (The Word of God) of God. As I line myself up with His Word, God is putting closure to those areas of my life that doesn't belong there. Make sense so far? Yes "in" Christ we sin less because there is no condemnation to those who are "in" Him, we wil never be perfect because of our sin nature, but we sin less because God reveals to us what sin is, I might add that a sinner knows when he is sinning, so I now don't practice sin because of it's concequences, following me so far? Some people are able to get a hold of God's life changing plan for their life because they are able to committ 100 percent of their lives to Him. Not me, I had a tough time in doing that, why? Well, I was raised in a dysfunctional family. I wasn't able to reveal my problems without being put down and feeling foolish. So I held everything in. When I came to God, I had many issues and I was too embarrassed, because I felt in my puny mind that He too would reject me because after all I was still practicing my sex sin and feeling guilty about it. Maybe you had a functional family (guessing here) and you may be more open than myself, and you don't see it as a promblem, but read (please) Ephesians 4:17-25. Now through the five fold ministry, Eph. 4:11, God is perfecting His saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Why? Eph.4:13 says "Till we ALL come in the UNITY of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:" I preach Christ to sinners and when led bulid up my brother who may be expierencing the same hard ship I may have gone through. Thamk you again for taking the time to read this post. We both have a purpose and a destiny and may God have all the Glory. God bless you ChristLifer2001 |

Thank you, Inmyheart, for your honesty and understanding. I, too, don't want to debate this particular issue. The problem with debating issues of what is sin and what is not sin is that we can get so nit-picky about it that we still live under condemnation. There is no more condemnation from God or from ourselves if we are in Christ - Rom 8:1. Is it because we have stopped sinning? Hardly. We still do sin. It is because Christ has taken the full punishment for ALL our sins and the law of the spirit of Life in Christ sets us free from that old law of sin and death - Rom 8:2. There are SO many things in this life that qualify as sin. And, you're right, they have consequences. But all these things that are sin should drive us to Christ to be set free, not to try to struggle on our own apart from Him. Most Christians think that if they don't fulfill the lusts of the flesh, then they are walking in the Spirit. They have there understanding backwards. If we endeavor to walk out of our spiritual union with Christ THEN we won't fulfill the lust of the flesh. Why? Because we have no inherent power on our own to defeat the enemy or to be set free from sinful patterns. Christ alone is our strength. He has defeated the enemy and He sets us free as He renews our minds to the truth of God's Word. The Holy Spirit never points out sin in our lives so that we will try harder not to sin. He points out sin so that we will know that we must be completely dependant upon Christ and His Spirit to fight the battle. Sin show us where we are not finding Him sufficient for all we need. If I am eating from His banquet table, I have no need and no desire for the garbage on the street. He has provided everything we need for life and godliness. If I am consumed with Him as my life, I will not need to spend all of my time categorizing what is garbage and what is not. I have found, as I trust you have, the Living Bread and the Living Water. Let us learn to walk in the Spirit. That is the secret to overcoming the flesh. Thanks for your interaction, Inmyheart. I pray that you will continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our blessed Savior. ChristLifer2001 |
