The Old Testament's original language of Hewbrew does show that anamials have the same thing that we have. I suppose the only difference would be that they don't have the Holy Spirit. If you look at the word for spirit and soul in the books of Eclesties, Psalms, and Lamantations you will find that the word is the same one for the the spirit/soul of mankind.

Solomon the wisest man on earth addressed this question in Eccles. 3:19-21 For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same. As one dies so dies the other; indeed, they all have the same breath and there is no advantage for man over beast, for all is vanity. 20All go to the same place. All came from the dust and all return to the dust. 21Who knows that the breath of man ascends upward and the breath of the beast descends downward to the earth? Now we are faced with deciding is verse 21 an open question or a rhetorical question? Since the question offers no choice and since one issue of it is clearly true we have to assume the question is rhetorical. On further investigation every commentary I had on the verse 3:21 comes to the same conclusion. I think it safe to say animals upon death do not go to heaven. They die and their essence goes with them into the earth. To us pet lovers that may be VERY HARD to accept and it may be something we don’t want to hear but I believe it is fact nonetheless. However this does not preclude animals in heaven. I believe there will be animals in heaven, at least horses to carry Jesus in the final battle. EdB |

then where did the horse that Jesus rides come from? What about Rev 5:11 or 12 where he says that the Angels, the Elders, and the ANAMIALS are around the throne? I am sorry, but I believe that the Greek word zoe for life and describes all life including Jesus's reseraction life all the way down to carrots tells me that the life that God gives is His. So why wouldn't the anaimals be in heaven. THe only problem that is see is that human kind is sometimes so arragent that they just don't believe there is anyone as valuable as themselves.

I think the main distinction between animals and man, is that God didn't give animals free choice in good verses evil. Jesus didn't die for animals to go to heaven. He died so that humans could gain access to heaven and God. Animals go there automatically. They are all good in my opinion. And if you read the Bible you find numerous passages to support this. This is why God accepted animal sacrifices. Animals are sinless. They don't have that capiblitity of doing wrong like we do. Thus, animals are not capable of having the 'holy spirit'. Only humans have access to that. But animals definitely have soul and spirit.
