And while you are at it, go back and re-read my first two paragraphs. Nothing you have written in this posts connects with any of the points I made at all. --Joe! P.S. Your intention is to make sure that your side is well-represented, and you are not doing a stellar job of it by mis-representing John MacArthur, one of the prinicpal and most well-known opponents of "easy-believism." |

Joe; No need to take offense. My reply was to kalos, but I welcome your response as well. Your accucastions of saying I am mis-representing McArthur for merely quoting him are uncalled for, since what i quoted was from him out of his book. John McArthur Jr. Is a great preacher, and I regard him highly, yet I don't think EVERYTHING he says is totally Bibical. I compare what McArthur says by what scripture says, not vice versa. Also John McArthur played a part in my receiving Christ Jesus as Savior and Lord, but as I continued to grow in the faith and as i continued to read and listen to McArthur some obvious Scriptural errors in his teaching became increasingly apparent. I believe that some of his teaching is denominational rather than scriptural as do many others besides myself. Nevertheless, the Bible is my final authority for all faith and practice. And if that means I must reject some teachings of men, then so be it. |

My problem with your reference to MacArthur is that it is not HIS words you are quoting from his book! --Joe! |

Zach Apologize now! Then you probably need to go to the Lord and ask for forgiveness, because you slandered a brother in the Lord with an untruth. The quote you contribute to MacArthur is really MacArthur quoting R. B. Thieme from his Book Apes Peacocks or the pursuit of Happiness. MacArthur calls this philosophy a "damning lie". The quote came from page 98 and is listed with footnote number 4. If you used another source for this information you now know that source is untrustworthy and to be discounted. Anyone that knows MacArthur also knows he would never say anything like this. I think he is one of the brightest and best bible scholar/teacher we have today. And that comes from a non Calvinist Pentecostal. Your wrong brother apologize!!! EdB |

Zach: Since you apparently don't have a copy of the book itself, exactly where did YOU get the quote you posted? Was it from a Web site? If so, please post it so that we can all have a looksie. Thanks for your honesty! --Joe! |

Joe; I had the book. I read the book, and saved the quote I found in it to a file I have. I no longer have the book.I donated it to a church library. If someone does have the book, I would appreciate it if someone who does possess the book would quote not only what I posted, but also all that precedes that quote, plus any information that comes after it, and then let us see for ourselves. No one here has actually posted anything from the book except for me. Grace and peace be multiplied unto thee. zach† |
