Dear Norrie, I do not know of any particular statement in the Bible that says weapons may be used. However, it was never condemned in a war situation. Abraham brought in an army of his servants to rescue Lot and the king of Sodom and all who were with them, when they were taken captive by opposing kings [Gen. 14]; all through the book of Joshua; on and off all through the Book of Judges; Moses, whereby God told Joshua and Caleb to hold Moses' arms up during the battle (which was not waged with fists alone); and in the Gospels, nothing was ever said against being in the profession of a centurion. I hope this is helpful to you - Itiswritten |

Thanks. Jesus even told disciples to take swords too so, I'd think it's OK. After all, the Israelites had to do a lot of warring and slaughtering too, we're studying Duet. in Sun Sch, they had 7 tribes to utterly destroy so...:) I doubt they used their bare hands. :) | ||||||

Also, when the soldiers come for Jesus, Peter uses his sword and cuts off one of the soldier's ears. Jesus does not rebuke him for having or using the sword, only for thinking that Jesus could not stop this if it wasn't meant to be. If weapons were wrong, Jesus would have told Peter so.
