1 | Is there any practical difference? | Bible general Archive 1 | Lionstrong | 20116 | ||
Dear Tim, "Please do not respond with theological arguments for or against." Is this not a study Bible Forum? How can we discuss anything on a biblical basis without being theological? How can we discuss the practical differences of these two theological positions without discussing their theological practicallity? Give us an example of how we should proceed, by giving us what you think are practical differences, OK? Peace, Lionstrong |

Example...................................... Greetings Lionstrong! For instance, the issue of evangelism is an example! If one believes in irresistable grace, then all of the elect will be saved regardless. If one believes in resistable grace, then men cannot accept Christ unless someone preaches the gospel to them. These are the kinds of things that I think Sir Pent was referring to! The point was not to debate the theology (which I am always willing to do), but to discuss what difference the theology makes in our daily lives. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Dear Tim, First, the irrelevance of evangelism is NOT a practical difference between C and A. And to explain why will get me all mushy and theological! Peace, Lionstrong |

Response..................................... Greetings Lionstrong! I would appreciate your participation, but if you really don't want to, no one can force you! ;-) If you want to discuss the theology of evangelism, we can start another thread on that one! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

My point, dear Tim, is that I'd like to, but I don't see how without getting into some theology that accounts for our practical differences. But thanks for the invitation! Peace, Lionstrong ....ΒΆ P.S. if this thread continues, I'd be surprised if theology is NOT brought back in! |

Greetings Lionstrong! I think you are missing the whole point. We all pretty well know the theological arguments. I'm not saying that we shouldn't debate those, but someone specifically asked what difference does it make in real life. So, I thought that would be an interesting discussion. Joe just provided an example on another thread. He said that he doesn't tell anyone that God loves them (when evangelizing) because it might not be true. Now, I would say to everyone that God loves them. This is a practical difference. This is an example where Joe and I would live or do differently because of our theology. This is the kind of thing that I was looking for! It may be that there isn't much difference! But, it would be interesting to know. Now, as for the theology! You know me well enough to know that I am always willing to discuss that. ;-) But, if it is done on this thread, then Sir Pent will give you a ticket! :-) (Just not an IU ticket!) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Dear Tim, If all pretty well knew the theological arguments of C and A, then the blunder of saying that C'ism implied that the elect would be saved regardless of evangelistic efforts would not have been made. But the truth that everything happens according to God's will gives me a peace, that I don't live in a world of chance, that nothing in all creation can separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Peace, Lionstrong |

Response.............................. Greetings Lionstrong! Thanks for the reply! The evangelism would be a good topic for another thread, since I have heard both views. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
