The believer's assurance/security "should hold no interest to you" and "the answer is not of any importance." ??? I couldn't disagree more. Original Question: I feel that you can not lose your salvation. What are verses in the Bible that would prove me wrong. One Person's Answer: "Unless you are actively involved in sin or plan to be, the answer should hold no interest to you." "If you really love Jesus, the answer is not of any importance in your life. " First, please note that my friend, who wrote the posting to which I reply, is my trusted and respected friend. I have nothing against my valued brother in this Note. I respectfully, yet strongly, disagree with the above answer. As for the Eternal Security vs. Eternal Insecurity debate, I don't care to get into that. I have already written just about everything I will ever write re that debate. (If you wish, you may find my answers to this debate by using the Search function.) What I am addressing here is the idea that the believer's assurance/security "should hold no interest to you" and "the answer is not of any importance." I couldn't disagree more. At this time I will not write an essay on why I disagree. I will merely quote Dr. Charles Stanley: "Salvation" and "Eternal Security" -- what you believe and know about these two terms is vital to your hope and confidence as a Christian, as well as to your witness for Christ. Confusion about how you were saved leads to confusion about how a person might remain saved." |

Kalos Thank you for your kind words, maybe I over simplified what I was trying to say. What I meant to say was if your living to please Jesus, and I think that is how we all should live, there is enough assurance in the Bible to tells us we will not lose our salvation. I took that statement and simplified it to say If you love Jesus the answer to the question, can I lose my salvation or not, is of no importance to you. Be Blessed my brother EdB |

Ed: Thank you so much for replying and providing more clarification of your earlier posting. I think if you and I sat down face to face and discussed this, we would find we agree on this much more than we disagree. I think that probably I didn't catch your meaning, your main idea, when I first read the earlier posting. Anyway, I am very pleased to find that you and I can remain friends without the need to agree on every last little detail. As long as we agree on the essentials of the Christian faith; and I believe that you and I do. |
