Greetings Doug! Great testimony! I love hearing about people coming to Christ. If you don't mind me asking, how old were you? I'm sorry I did not clarify my point about "being saved". The word is a Present, Passive, Indicative, 2nd, Plural verb. Which simply means, it can be translated as "You are being saved". As I pointed out to Bill, I'm not sure if there is any particular relevance to the present tense here as oppossed to an aorist. However, my main point was that the people in v. 1 are described as those who are or are being saved. This would not fit an unbeliever. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

The words that Paul spoke of here (the Gospel) don't mean much to this world today. They didn't mean much to me either when I was growing up. I was raised up in the church (Southern Baptist). It didn't do much for me, though. The preacher always preached the same message....."Jesus Christ and him crucified". I thought "So what??". One day, when I was 16 years old, I was standing at the back of the church. The preacher gave the invitation after that same old message. At that time, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and told me I was lost. I said " I know". He said "What are you going to do about it?".The only thing I could think of was to go and ask the preacher. He said "You need to pray the sinner's prayer". When I prayed, I felt like I had started a new life. Guess what!!!........I DID!!!!!!! 2 Cor 5:17 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV) Yours in Christ, Doug |
