Hello, Justin I whole-heartedly agree that the righteous shall live by faith. But I do not want to be misleading. Our faith does not save us, but the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross to wash away our sins does. Baptism is an act of obedience to the plan for salvation that God has established. Baptism is the necessary display of the faith that we must have to be saved. Faith alone is not enough. I beg you to read James chapter 2, starting in verse 14. It is too long to reproduce here, but I believe the scriptures should often be left to speak for themselves, and this passage has a lot to say. Give particular consideration to verses 14, 19, 20, and 24. It is not just faith that saves us, but an obedient faith. I'm afraid I must ask you to provide scriptural support for the assertions you made in your first two paragraphs. Please don't take me the wrong way. It is IMPOSSIBLE to earn our way to heaven. I am not saying that deeds can in any way cause us to deserve salvation (legalism). Christ did the deed; He paid the debt we could never pay. But He set up conditions we must follow to recieve it. As to your hypothetical situations, I am not God, and not a judge, and I honestly don't know the fate of the souls you have listed. But I do not believe that God, once giving someone the opportunity to know the Truth, would deny them the opportunity to obey that truth. I am glad that, despite our differences, we still have one thing in common: Christ. This is more than most of the world can say. I pray that there be no animosity between us, and how much I wish that Satan had never distorted God's message (For either of us - I do not claim to have a perfect discernment of God's word) that it would seperate those who love Christ. I believe this forum is an excellent tool for God to reveal His will for us, and I pray, too that He will do so! You may find it funny that my name is Justin, too. In Christian love, JMGJazzum |

Hello, Justin I hope I do not seem confrontational. I am very passionate about the foundation of Christianity. Martin Luther King after receiving the revelation that the righteous will live by faith removed the book of James (because he thought it conflicted with salvation through faith). Later, when he understood James, he had it re-inserted. Faith without works is dead … this simply means that if you have a genuine faith in God you will act in a certain way. Romans 10:9-11 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. John 5:4-6 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God John 3:15-17 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Romans 3:27-29 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. Romans 4:1-3 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about--but not before God. Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, Romans 10:9-11 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Galatians 2:15-17 know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified. The following scripture is one of the reasons I am so zealous about this topic. Galatians 5:3-5 You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. Ephesians 2:7-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— So do these scriptures conflict with scriptures from James such as: James 2:23-25 You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone. No, the answer is this … genuine faith leads to works … salvation is NOT by works … Galatians 3:1-3 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Yours in Christ Justin |

You are mistaken in several ways. Martin Luther is the 16th-century German Reformer. Martin Luther King, Jr., is the 20th-century American civil-rights activist. Martin Luther stood on justification by faith, and never removed books from the Bible. --Joe! |

Dear Joe Thanks for the clarity. I have honestly had my wires mixed on that topic. I am a relatively new convert and although some of my historical details may be imprecise (I really only have an interest in the Bible ... in the two years I have been saved I have read the Bible ad nauseum but have never read any other Christian book (whether fiction or non-fiction)) I do know, without doubt and without hesitation, that salvation comes from faith alone … it is sad that this, as the focus of my answer, was lost amid a nitpick of unimportant historical details (This purely my fault as I should never have included any historical details … the Word is enough) Jeremiah 23:28-30 "Is not my word like fire," declares the LORD, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces? May the truth be revealed, may Jesus be glorified. Your brother in Christ Justin |

I thank Him always. My religion was women, alcohol and drugs. I gave my life in my friend’s sister’s room and was prayed for by a Christian I had known for a week. God graciously baptized me with His Spirit and my life was transformed so radically my atheist friends believed in God. You have no idea how thankful I am, I was utterly lost. Now I preach a righteous, which is by faith from first to last, that is why I am so adamantly against baptism and the like as part of salvation. May the Author and Finisher of our faith lavish you with all wisdom and knowledge that you may know more clearly the mystery of God, which is Christ. Your brother in the Faith Justin |
