1 | Isn't every word of God vital to us? | Rev 17:16 | glory777 | 59562
Pastor Glenn- Every word in the bible is important, but people can get so caught up in what I call "revelation theory" at the expense of what Is known. If, by chance, it were so about the kings, what would it profit us? It would give us knowledge, but would it affect our day to day living? Would it spur us into being more diligent in presenting the gospel? I don't think the Lord wants us to work for Him out of fear. I don't think He wants people to come to Him out of fear. There has been speculation that the major countries forming the European Union (?) were the kings prophesied, and, as I said, HItler as antichrist. But if we go around espousing these as facts, we would end up discrediting ourselves in the eyes of the world. Now, I know I just opened myself up to another whole can of worms, but in order to get others to know we are beleivable, we have to stay creditable. By the way, I don't think al-quida has enough clout for any 10 to be considered kings. Maybe I don't read enough of the news, but there are other countries that have more respectability and visibility and downright power that would have to be in the group, in my opinion only, of course. (I was a revelation junkie at one time. But ask me what the Father was like and I couldn't give you much of an anwer then either!) Bless you- Debbie |

2 | Danger in "revelation theory" only. | Rev 17:16 | Pastor Glenn | 59580
Debbie, I think you are right about the dangers of having "revelation theory" as the only interest in our Christian study. I also agree that God does not want us to live in fear of the antichrist. However, we do need a healthy fear of the warnings of God as Noah had: Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. As for Al-Qaeda, maybe they are not the ten kings, but there is indication that they may represent a part of the beast himself, while those that provide funding are "as kings" for one hour with the beast(Rev 17:12). 17:13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength(money?) unto the beast. It is important to identify all personallities here: the Ten kings, The Harlot, and the beast. While they are all enemies of the Lamb, the Ten Kings are also enemies of the Harlot that rides the beast. Bless you- Pastor Glenn |
