2 | 144,000 | Rev 14:1 | Makarios | 44252
Greetings angelabee! The 144,000 that are spoken of in Revelation 14:1 are evidently the same group that is spoken of in Revelation 7:4, who are from the 12 tribes of Israel (12,000 each) who were protected (Rev. 14:4) in order to perform a service for God (possibly evangelism [Rev. 7:9-17]) during the last days. It is interesting to note that the tribe of Dan is not included. The 144,000 will be resurrected first (Rev. 7:4; Zech. 12:10). Blessings to you, Makarios |

More questions Makarios! Citing the following Scriptures you wrote, "The 144,000 will be resurrected first" "And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel" Rev. 7:4; "I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn." Zech. 12:10 How do you conclude this from these passages? What is the meaning of the 144,000 being sealed, is it the same as described by Paul in the following passages? 2 Cor 1:22 "who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge." Eph 4:30: "you were sealed for the day of redemption." We read in Rev 14:3 that 144,000 are "redeemed." They are further described as being an offering or "firstfruits". Could this be that these chosen 144,000 Jews are the first converts to accept Jesus as Messiah AFTER the rapture of the Church? (See info on this verse in NASB) As always, I'm thinking out of the box! Blessings, Mommapbs |

4 | Sealing of the 144,000? | Rev 14:1 | jme | 45662
The 144,000 being sealed means that it is a literal number.(Rev. 14.4) This number is also spoken of as the Bride of Christ. Thus they were not chosen untill Christ was resurrected.Starting with the Apostles. As for being first fruits they were to rule along side Christ for a 1000 years. But who are they to rule over? The Bible also speaks of a great crowed that no man could number that would be ressurected to the earth. Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations and kindreds and people and tongues, stood before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes and with palms in their hands. Psalm 37:29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.( which was the origanal purpose for the earth, So because man sinned God did not change his purpose) Revelation 14:1 (AMP) THEN I looked, and behold, the Lamb stood on Mount Zion, and with Him 144,000 [men] who had His name and His Father's name inscribed on their foreheads.( This is also a very intersting verse because it mentions that they would have Jesus's name and his Fathers name while they both are in heaven.) |

Greeetings! Please support your statements Scripturally: 1.This number is also spoken of as the Bride of Christ 2.Thus they were not chosen untill Christ was resurrected.Starting with the Apostles. 3.The Bible also speaks of a great crowed that no man could number that would be ressurected to the earth. (Rev 7:9 -the scene described is in HEAVEN where the Temple of God, and His throne remain until the time of New Heaven and the New Earth in Rev 21-22) Also, could you please explain why this is interesting? You cited: Revelation 14:1 (AMP) THEN I looked, and behold, the Lamb stood on Mount Zion, and with Him 144,000 [men] who had His name and His Father's name inscribed on their foreheads.( This is also a very intersting verse because it mentions that they would have Jesus's name and his Fathers name while they both are in heaven.)WHY? Thanks for following this up with me! Mommapbs |

6 | Sealing of the 144,000? | Rev 14:1 | jme | 45677
Hi Mommapbs Because this seems to me that there are two different names here. When Jesus was on the earth he prayed to his Father in heaven and it was through Jesus ( he was a mediator) that we could pray to God. Also in early translations and some now adays they mention God's name as JHVH or YHWH or in english Jehovah, and that this must be the other name. This verse seems to indecate that both names were written on their foreheads!! I just found that interesting. jme |

This verse might also suggest that because they were Jews, the chosen people of God, it was necessary for them also to recognize Jesus as Messiah - hence the two names.
8 | Sealing of the 144,000? | Rev 14:1 | jme | 45691
When Jesus was killed all attachment of God to the Jewish nation was gone and was give to people of all the nations, (except for any Jews that wanted to follow Christ,) The chosing of the 144,000 were not literly all chosen from the Jews because as a nation they were cast off by God, because of their conduct. They are Spiritual Jews( some Jews were chosen, 120 from the upper room , the Apostles etc.) taken from all nations, just as the Jews were a chosen people the 144,000 are a chosen people. The Jews lost that. Also wanted to mention that God always warned his People before he took action. Noah and the flood, when the Jews were in captivity he said when the armies leave flee to the moutains, not all did and they paid for it with lives. He sent Jesus to be a ransom and warn the Jew that they were not following the spirit of the law, and Jesus said they had made his Fathers house a den of robbers. I can back all this up with scriptures. So if anyone needs this confirmed let me know. Also the term Messiah, is not a name itmeans..anointed or anointed one. Which raises another question who anionted Jesus, it must have been his Father. jme |

9 | Sealing of the 144,000? | Rev 14:1 | srbaegon | 45698
Hello jme The 144,000 are physical Jews. Rev 7:5-8 goes to the trouble of giving the tribes they are from (not so with spiritual offspring of Abraham). Also, Romans 11 specifically says that God has not cast off His earthly people forever. Steve |

10 | Sealing of the 144,000? | Rev 14:1 | jme | 45706
Hi Steve If you read the earlier posts I did mention that that God would not cast off all people forever he always left a way out for the ones that were trying to do his will actually Gods purpose in the beginning was to fill the earth with happy perfect people all worshipping Him with Spirit and truth, that still is his purpose. Rev 7:1-8 1After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. 2Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: 3"Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God." 4Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel. 5From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed, from the tribe of Reuben 12,000, from the tribe of Gad 12,000, 6from the tribe of Asher 12,000, from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000, from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000, 7from the tribe of Simeon 12,000, from the tribe of Levi 12,000, from the tribe of Issachar 12,000, 8from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000, from the tribe of Joseph 12,000, from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000. (These cannot be the tribes of natural Israel because there never was a tribe of Joseph, the tribes of Ephraim and Dan are not included in the list here, and the Levites were set aside for service in connection with the temple but were not reckoned as one of the 12 tribes. See Numbers 1:4-16.) Below is Gods view who is a Jew or not, Man's view is that if you are born a Jew is the ownly way to be a Jew. Even if you that up their religon you are not a Jew but of Jewish faith. Romans 2:28,29 28A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God. Gal 3:26 26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. I hope this helps what I was trying to say. jme |

Hello jme God has not cast off His physical people forever per Romans 11. If you were to do a study concerning the tribes of Israel, you would find that the names listed are different in many cases. This is hardly conclusive evidence that the 144,000 is spiritual Israel. Steve |

HI Steve I understand your thinking on this point. Many people even some Christians think this way.But ( there is always a big But :) ) Matthew21:42- 42Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: " 'The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone[8] ; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes'[9] ? 43"Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit. 44He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed."[10] 45When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus' parables, they knew he was talking about them. 46They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet. Matthew 23:27- 27"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. 28In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness. 29"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. 30And you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.' 31So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. 32Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers! 33"You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? 34Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. 35And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation. 37"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. 38Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'[4] " Romans 11 The Remnant of Israel 1I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. 2God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don't you know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah--how he appealed to God against Israel: 3"Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me"[1] ? 4And what was God's answer to him? "I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal."[2] 5So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. 6And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.[3] 7What then? What Israel sought so earnestly it did not obtain, but the elect did. The others were hardened, 8as it is written: "God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes so that they could not see and ears so that they could not hear, to this very day."[4] 9And David says: "May their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them. 10May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever."[5] How do these scriptures compare to Romans 11. At first glance it looks like a contradiction. But it is not. First of all, the scriptures in Matthew says that God has cast off the nation of Israel. Now in Romans it mentions that God would never abandon his people. Here it is talking about a remnant people not the whole nation, these remnant were the first Jews that followed Christ, and was opened up to the Gentiles also. Thus the Gentiles also becoming spiritual Jews. Which I quoted in an earlier post.So now anyone has the opportunity become a part of Gods Kingdom. jme |

Hello jme You speak of an apparent contradiction. There is no contradiction. I agree that Rom 11:1-10 speaks of the remnant chosen by grace--at the present time. However, Romans 11:11-32 speaks very clearly that the physical Jewish nation will be brought back into God's blessing in the future. Steve |

Hi Steve OK Steve, I understand where you are comming from. Everyone has the the free choice to to choose where their faith lies. But rember when Noah was saved at the flood 8 people survived, out of an estimated 1 millon that were thought to be on the earth at that time.So it is vital to carefully evaluate what God requires at this time. Have a great day. If you want talk more don't hesitate. |
