1 | Any biblical answers to Mormon beliefs? | 1 John 4:1 | Shelley H. | 30950 | ||
I have a close family member who is a leader in the Mormon church. He gave us a lot of material on their beliefs to read. There are a lot of rabbit trails we could disagree about, but I want to get to the heart of what they believe and be able to give biblical examples of the truth. Does anyone have good, sound biblical answers for me? I have been doing a lot of study in this area on my own, but would appreciate any wisdom that I can get. Thanks, Shelley |

Ask them about the Trinity. Is Jesus God? If not then Isaiah was a liar and hence a false prophet. Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a *Son* is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, *Mighty God*, *Everlasting Father*, Prince of Peace. Now I've heard them answer that Isaiah says "Like a Mighty God" but they have no answer for "Everlasting Father", except to say, well it's a praise of God the Father because of the Son. But this can't be because the next title is "Prince of Peace". God the Father is not the *prince* of anything. He is Almighty God, The Creator. Then what about John 20:28, 29. 28Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" 29Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." If Jesus was not his God, why didn't He rebuke Thomas for blasphemy? |
