1 | What's your favorite Bible version? Why? | Deut 4:2 | Mommapbs | 140966 | ||
Happy New Year Kalos - I enjoy the NASB for personal study, "The Message" for pleasure reading, and "God's Word" for another perspective . . . I am not keen on the KJV or the NIV. I believe that we need to do more than "read"- we need to "chew" or meditate upon what God has revealed in His Word. When I read from different versions I often gain a different perspective which prompts me to seek God's counsel for ME in what I am reading. At times I suspect we tend to see what "others need" rather than what God wants to give US! And your preferred version is? Blessings, mommapbs PS: At times I wish I could read Greek - I'm thankful for members like Tim Moran here! |

Mommapbs: My two favorite Bible versions are: [] New American Standard Bible [] New King James Version These two are the ones that I trust the most. I love the NASB for its accuracy and the NKJV because it retains -- as much as possible in a modern translation -- the beauty of language of the KJV. The NKJV is also a very literal, accurate translation. Like you, I enjoy using different versions for different purposes. My preferences are: [] for study: NASB [] for general reading: ESV [] for devotional reading: HCSB [] for reading aloud (e.g., at church): NKJV Another translation I enjoy is the New International Reader's Version. It is easily understood, readable and trustworthy. I agree that reading from different versions is a profitable practice. If one (such as myself) cannot read Greek, the next best thing may be to read the same passage in various translations. I share your appreciation for Tim Moran and other members who, like him, give us scripturally supported facts rather than mere speculation. Grace to you, Kalos |
