1 | Empty inside being a Roman Catholic? | James 2:17 | catrose62 | 24693
My husband was raised Roman Catholic, although he is not practicing the faith actively, he results back to it in times of trial with his rosary. Without trying to insult him, I am trying to find the right words or explanations of what is wrong in the way they practice their religon. That is why he still feels so empty inside. Can someone help me?

Catrose62, I wouldn't be so bad but the catholic are one's to not allow their members to think for themselves. Of course you are to believe what they say to believe in. But what is that saying? You don't have a mind for yourself. They idolize the Pope and he is just a man. You're suppose to confess your sins to a priest and then he translates these confession to the pope and he is the intercessor to God to get forgiveness. Please, do you know how much that this is elevating man?? Jesus came to earth in a man body, but it was God. God so loves us that he sent his son, it says, but it is him in a human body, with the spirit of God. With man and trusting in man only, man will fail you every time. Man is not perfect. So, then you're to elevate Mary above Jesus. It's the same thing again elevating man over God. Yes she was blessed to concieve Jesus, but no more, and certainly not to the extent that Catholics believe. They actual worship her. Gee, sounds like the Pope. We all have free will and God gave us an intellect to search and read the scriptures for ourselves. The problem is is that you actually have to work at it, but you will be blessed beyond measure. i know it's hard to leave what you have been led to think was right for so long, but get the heck out of there. I'll be here for you. In Love of the true Word. Serenetime

Serenetime, You have some serious misunderstandings about Catholics and what they believe. Nothing of what you have said in your post reflects what I believe or think as a Catholic. Emmaus |

Emmaus, I'm curious regarding confession to a priest, because through Jesus confession is made and the forgiveness of sins. Also on indulgences. You can be partially forgiven where you have to do something through the church, because of how bad the sin was. Also prayers to Mary. Why Mary? Just curious on your thoughts regarding these. Thanks. Serenetime, One of the nice things about the Catholic Church is that it is easy to find out what it clearly teaches. They print it in a catechism. Here is a link that takes you right to the section on Confession, followed by Indulgences and the Annointing of the Sick. You may or may not agree or find it convincing, but you will at least have it accuratley and in context. http://www.christusrex.org/www1/CDHN/healing.html#HEALING As for Mary and the Pope those formal teachings are also found in the Catechism, but you can click my name and then click for all my posts and see what I have said there about those subjects starting with number 8 of my posts. I don't believe this forum is the appropriate place for me to engage in Catholic catechetics unless that is incident to a discussion of a particular question about a scritural passage. Besides which I would only aggravate my carpal tunnel syndrome with all the typing. Emmaus |
