1 | should it be Easter, or Passover? | Heb 12:24 | sonofmom | 221768
Should Christians celebrate Passover or Easter? I am dismayed by the amount of pagan influences that are connected with this holiday. My church doesn't say 'Happy Easter', but instead, 'Happy Resurrection Day' I do not want to partake in the festivities of coloring eggs, but allow it for the grandkids' sake. Does Passover have a connection with the resurrection? |

2 | should it be Easter, or Passover? | Heb 12:24 | DocTrinsograce | 221769
Dear sonofmom, Welcome to the forum! I am a Jewish convert to Christianity. I, also, say "Happy Resurrection Day." Why would you want to go backwards, to the old covenant, when the new is our assurance of our eternal inheritance (Hebrews 9:15)? Why take on a burden that not even the Jews have been able to bear (Acts 15:10)? The world will always distort and obfuscate the things of God. This is part of the hatred of the Serpent to the Holy Seed. What does such distortion have to do with us? Therefore, go on walking as you ought -- in grace, not legalism -- keeping our eyes on Christ. No day is superior to another. Rather, let us rejoice on this day at the consummation of the work of Lamb of God in atonement. In Him, Doc |

3 | Is Passover connected with Resurrection | Heb 12:24 | sonofmom | 221771
Does Passover have a connection with the resurrection? There are many people who are very devout in their celebration of passover, and I would like to know if there is a modern connection. I feel led to remove myself further from the celebration of Easter, which stems from ishtar. All the God-fearing people who celebrate Passover can not be considered as going backwards. Did not Jesus celebrate Passover? |

4 | Is Passover connected with Resurrection | Heb 12:24 | BradK | 221772
Hello sonofmom, The Passover led into Jesus Crucifixion and resurrection! He kept the Passover with the disciples (Matt. 26:17-25). What we celebrate is His Resurrection, the fact that He conquered death and rose victorious over it and sin! As Paul writes in 1 Cor. 15, "But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep" "O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." (NASB) Because He lives, I can face tomorrow and all the trials of life! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Brad, you quote the verse saying, 'The sting of death is sin' And I agree that Christ, thru His work on the cross, has taken the negative aspect out of death. He surely gained reconciliation between God and fallen man, as He obtained remission of sin. One might say about sin, that its bark is worse than its bite. Thank you, Brad. Your response is appreciated, and very timely in this season. in anticipation, son |
