Hank: Who took the BIBLE out of StudyBibleForum? I just read 10 consecutive Notes and Anwers, posted Tue., 03-09-2004, from 7:40 a.m. to 8:59 a.m.) I found only one reference to one verse of Scripture in these 10 posts. (This Answer makes the twelfth such posting. :-)) What happened? I thought this was studyBIBLEforum. In the previous 10 posts, I noticed several assertions which, as far as I know, cannot be backed up with Scriputre. Ineresting. --kalos |

kalos: You may recall a time, now long past, when several people on StudyBibleForum made an effort to match what they wrote with what the Scriptures teach. A few of them actually quoted passages of Scripture on this very Forum. Imagine that! I don't know what happened. I guess the Forum just outgrew the Bible. You know how it is. As the Forum grew and took on more and more new users who know it all, there became less and less need for an ancient old book called the Bible. By the way, do you happen to know whether the Bible is still in print? --Hank | ||||||

Hey Guys! I've been reading through this thread and how many Scripture references have y'all posted on this topic? Just wondering where you are heading . . . "Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person." Col 4:6 mommapbs |

mommapbs: Let your speech always be with grace. Amen. Also, let your Bible answers always be seasoned with Bible references. You've got a point. :-) And since you raised the question, please suggest one or more Scripture references on the topic of not including Scripture references in one's answer. Where are we heading? What, Hank has not already made it abundantly clear where he's heading? Grace and peace to you, kalos ******************** To one and all: Welcome to StudyBibleForum.com, where one guess is as good as another. |

Kalos, As a fellow bondservant . . ."With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men," Eph 6:7 And, Psalm 19:14 comes to mind: "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight,O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer." Now, back to you: what words (or services) are acceptable in God's sight? Chapter and verse please :) Let's not "guess" about this answer, ok? mommapbs |

How about quoting a verse on the subject of changing the subject in the middle of a thread? :-) Even if I were guilty of being impolite in my posts, that does not address the subject of the original Question, "StudyBibleForum or MyOpinionForum?". As I said earlier, the game of "What does this verse mean to me?" is a very popular one on this forum. |

Kalos, I "guess" I'm not up to sparring with you on this. I suspect (yes, this is MY OPIONION) that some participants are so legalistic in their approach to the Word that they miss the Spirit of it. As a reference I would commend to you Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." Changing topics . . . Guilty as charged. |

And I suspect that some participants are so subjective in their approach to interpreting Scripture that they miss the letter and the Spirit and the meaning of it. Carefully studying and interpreting the Word does not automatically make a person an unfeeling legalist or a Pharisee. Nor does interpreting according to one's emotions automatically make a person spiritually superior. |

I agree Kalos, careful studying and interpreting God's Word are paramount to the believer's walk with the Lord, and I agree, to interpret according to emotions is dangerous territory. It has been MY practice to seek confirmation of the Holy Spirit's prompting through the study of the Scriptures, prayer, circumstances and other believers (ie this Forum does qualify at times. God has been faithful to respond to my seeking of Him and His will. But what is this nonsense about spiritual superiority? Each member of Christ's body has significance and value. Some are babes, some are in the throes of adolecence, just learning to exercize their faith and others are full grown(grouchy)men and women, who SHOULD be (and act)as mature in the Lord as they think they are! We are to encourage one another and use our God-given gifts to build up the body until we all reach unity in Christ. (My but are we a long way from THAT . . .oops, MY OPINION again) See Eph 4:11-16. Anyway, I (and perhaps othere here)would really like to know: how has God specifically directed you from His Word in your life circumstances? I look forward to your testimony. mommapbs |
