1 | Rapture question? | 1 Thess 4:17 | justme | 89905
Dmunn: I have a fresh and exciting idea for you. Go to Matthew 24 and read what Jesus said about His return. Take notes in the order He says things will occure. I believe this will suprise you and even make the end times easier to understand. I suggest that larning about what the Word says, is best accomplished by personal study of the source, which is the Word of God. If you desire a deeper understanding then get some real notworthy schollary book writen by s solid person, in that field. By solid I do not mean the comic set of books called the "Left Behind" series. These "left Behind" books are the "Harry Potter" books, of the Christian world. In my outspoken opinion, the Left Behind" series should be left behind in the outhouse, for what I think these books could best be used for. In the "olden days" we used the out dated Sears Roebuck catalogue for this special use. I hope this will give who ever reads this something to think about. Blessings. justme |

2 | Rapture question? | 1 Thess 4:17 | Dmunn | 89994
I never claimed to use the left behind series on a basis of my opinion. The left behind series actually mentions about people dieing due to the rapture. And I see no where in the Gospels or verses referring to the rapture in the Bible saying the rapture is a Judgment or a wrath of God to the unbelivers.

Dmunn: good insight. Did you read chapter 24 of Matthew? I am glad you are a person that thinks for themselves. Thinking outside to box can have it's rewards. Keep in touch. justme |

Yes I read and studied Matthew 24, there is no reference to the rapture in it. So what am I suppose to be looking at?

Dmunn: Exactly what you found! Now in Chapter 24 Jesus lays out the order of events, and the signs that go with then. I think this is the pattern Jesus said things would happen, When reading other scripture in relation to Jesus return, make an effort to see if these verses fall into what jjesus said. I think it follows quite well. Darby who came up with the theology of in the air Jesus returns for the rapture, and later comes again for the final (third time?) closure of the gathering of all the saints. This theory began in 1820. It was furtherd by C. I. Scofield who puplished his Scofield notes printed in the KJV Bible thus it was called The Scofield Study Bible. Billy Sunday, Moody, and others have engulfed this theory and it has become such a prominate positionin some denominations, that to eevn think otherwise means you are not genuinely saved. Notable John Hagee has taken this to the ultimate extreme, and would disfellowship anyone who does not believe the rapture theory. Everything is neatly ploted on a chart when and how all the events in the future are to happen, but not the date for the rapture. I believe some Christians take whatever theeir pastor says as infalable as the Scripture it's self. I was challenged by a wonderful professor Dr. D.C. Martin at Grand Canyon University, to just read the Bible through and try and come up with the rapture dispensational theory by then self with out the notes that try to prove this theory. I will say from my point of view that this is a deffinate scare tool and it makes for a dramatic make a choice for heaven or hell right now type of witnessing. Zig Zigler said, "no body cares how much you know; untill they know how much you care." I was so impressed with this significant remark that is how I try to gain the right to share Jesus with people. It has been a valuable lesson for me. I will say I do have respect for those who believe this rapture theory, and I would never stop fellowshiping with a church or person that accepts this view of end times. I refer you to !Corinthians chapter 13. In this chapter we see what should be our motive for sharing the GoodNews of Jesus Christ our Lord. How does this settle with you? Blessings. justme |
