1 | Rapture question? | 1 Thess 4:17 | LookingforTruth | 23391
This is one question that I was asked regarding the Rapture that I could not answer. If I am in a single motor airplane and there is only one pilot and there are 18 people on board who don't know how to fly and the rapture takes place while we are in midflight and the pilot is raptured and everyone else is left behind does this mean everyone on board will die in a crash? Who will fly the plane? Help! How do I answer this? |

2 | Rapture question? | 1 Thess 4:17 | Hank | 23399
LookingforTruth, it comes as no surprise that you were unable to answer the question about the rapture that was posed to you. Neither I nor anyone else can give a solid biblical answer to this "what if" question, or to other speculative questions of kindred genre. We may as well resign ourselves to the reality that the Bible simply does not provide a specific answer to every question the mind of man can think of. And if I or anyone else is so presumptuous to give answers and call them biblical to questions on which the Bible is silent, they deserve nothing more than a stone deaf ear. --Hank
3 | Rapture question? | 1 Thess 4:17 | EdB | 23408
Lookingfortruth I think that answer lies in Job 1. Job's children were killed in what was a test of Job. Also the answer lies in the story of Exodus, countless Egyptians died because Pharaoh refused to release Moses and the children of Israel. Think of the question this way. We would challenge God’s fairness in this action but we justify killing millions of babies by abortion arguing the women has a right. If God killed everyone on earth right now today He would be justified, since He was the one that created us. For us to even attempt to judge God and His actions is an insult to God’s sovereignty when did the created get to question the creator? God’s promise was that all things would work to the good of those that Love the Lord and was called to his purpose. He never said only good things happen. Besides what is important is where we spend eternity not when we die. It could be within God's plan to rapture the pilot and thus cause everyone on the plane to be saved before their death. How is that for hypothetical? EdB |

4 | Rapture question? | 1 Thess 4:17 | kalos | 23456
EdB, you have rightly said: "For us to even attempt to judge God and His actions is an insult to God’s sovereignty when did the created get to question the creator?" Brother, you took the words right out of my mouth. Indeed, will the thing made say to the One who made him, "I don't think you're being fair"? What presumption! Whatever God chooses to do, He will always do only what is in harmony with His own divine nature. We know that, in addition to being sovereign, God is always just and righteous in all His judgments. It's good to look at things from the perspective of the Word of God and not be limited to our petty ideas of what is fair. (BTW, where does it say in Scripture that God is "fair"? Instead, Scripture tells us that God is "just." Not only that, He goes beyond justice -- He is also merciful.) "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9 KJV) Excellent answer, Ed. Well said! Grace to you, kalos |
