1 | Tithing | 2 Cor 9:1 | glory777 | 13286
Johnny- Tithing per se was not taught by Jesus. But He did commend the widow that gave to the temple her dinas (?) all that she had. He also never taught that the Sabbath should be kept. However, there are things that the old testament gives us that we can apply to our lives. When Abraham brought the tenth to Melchizedek (a type of Christ)it was setting an example. However, the recommendation of Jesus to the widow shows that we should give even more. My church believes the tithe is basic for a standard of giving. For myself, I believe the tithe is basic. It is the least I can give. Other denominations believe go with what your heart says. Jesus is the fulfillment of the law, His Blood was shed as the end to sacrifice and law. But that doesn't mean that we should thrwo out everything waht was taught in the Old Testament. The Sabath, too, was given to man, for God wanted a day to bless us and knew we needed to have that one day set aside to focus on Him and to have a change in our weekly lives for refreshing. So do we need to give, so we can be blessed. Debbie |

You did mentioned this but I'm sure this was sacrifice or love offering and not tithes Luke 21:3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: You did mentioned Abraham: Do you think It was okay that I'm going to slaughter Kings (if we can I know Kings are powerful) and then I will give tithes. Abram did this He slaughter Kings and Gave tithes to Melchizedek. Genesis 14:17-20 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. I DID NOT MENTIONED THAT WE we should thrwo ALL THE TEACHING OF THE OLD TEASTAMENT (DID I MENTIONED THAT?) This is the great commandments that Jesus taught: Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. DO YOU THINK I WILL DISOBEY THE OLD TESTAMENT IF I WILL TRY TO OBSERVE THIS. WE ALSO BELEIVED ON THIS TEACHING. 2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. I DID MENTIONED IN MY PREVIOUS EXPLAINATION THAT GIVING IS NOT WRONG IF YOU CAN GIVE MORE THEN ITS MORE ACCEPTABLE TO GOD. But not tithes as a requirements I hope you did read it in my previous statements. JOHNNY |

Normally, posts that are directed to one forum member in particular are not posted as "Primary questions." When the posted question is overly long, such posts can be irritating since others have to scroll past them to read other questions which are truly meant for anyone and everyone on the Forum.
