To begin with, you will find no definition or even mention of dating in the Bible, although you will find there principles that apply to relationships. The modern concept of dating is wholly unknown in the Bible or to the ancient world in which the Bible was written. Dating, as we know it, is a very new phenomenon in the history of humankind. I'm not saying that you do this, but, in general, we often kid ourselves that we are dating someone for the purpose of "witnessing" to and possibly converting them. By some strange coincidence the person whom we date as a ministry is usually someone we just happen to find physically attractive. The logic here is simple. According to the Bible, a believer has no business marrying an unbeliever. How to avoid marrying someone? Don't date them. |
