Lest Paul should be "puffed up". Paul was one of the most learned men of his time. He had credentials beyond belief, beyond 5 masters and 5 ph.d's. Paul had a speech impediment, and was unable to write well. No one could accuse him of being "puffed up" in oratory or in his writings! When I preach I preach loud, with a firm voice, as one having authority. I print and write quite well. Paul could do neither of these. His eyesight may have been impacted, as well. See Acts Chapter 9. See also 1 Corinthians 2:3-4a and 2 Corinthians 10:10. |

Dear Dispen4ever: The Bible does not say that Paul had university degrees, nor does it say that he had a speech impediment, or had any trouble writing. Where, pray tell, did you learn these things? Your original post gives no Scriptural reference, by the way. John |

Hi John, And Moses said unto the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. I can make an assumption and say I believe Paul had a Stutter, as it is also believed Moses had, I would rather believe they were both slow of speech Post by DocTrinsograce 04/02/08 No.201528 In Jewish tradition it is believed that Moses, the greatest man in Judaism, stuttered. Some think that Paul, arguably the greatest theologian of Christendom, stuttered (2 Corinthians 11:6). You are in very good company! |

Hi Matt: I am of pretty much the same mind, the Bible says, in fact, Moses himself says, he was slow of speech, I take that to mean, he was slow of speech. Where does it say paul was (slow of speech)? I'm not trying to argue here, I really would like to know, as I don't recall ever seeing that. Having said that, neither does slowness infer, a lack of ability to communicate in loquacious articulation of verbiage. Moses perhaps was just showing his meekness, and humility. I too am sometimes very, "slow of speech", but that is not necessarily an impairment in the ability to communicate. And I too often will claim that I don't articulate well, but those who know me will just tell me I'm full of it, when I say things like that. Certainly in Paul's case in can be argued that he was a consummate orator of the highest degree, when he chose to be. He could also write with the same said characteristics; the Bible, and history, bears witness to that fact. Just my two cents. John |
