1 | Just as if I had never sinned? | 1 Cor 6:11 | load | 254
I've heard the concept of justification being compared (for the sake of simplicity I'm sure) to the phrase "Just as if I had never sinned." Is this really an accurate picture of justification? (Not sure what verse to attach this to...)
2 | Just as if I had never sinned? | 1 Cor 6:11 | charis | 255
No, because this would lead you to deny even post-justification sin. Rather, Jesus cancels the judgment of sin and death and replaces it with born-again life. Sin is still present, but it's power nullified.
3 | It must have some merit...no? | 1 Cor 6:11 | load | 256
Thanks charis. But am the only one to have heard this statement numerous times -- not from the pulpit, but from discussion and small group settings. It must have some merit...no?
4 | It must have some merit...no? | 1 Cor 6:11 | charis | 269
Dear load, If the soul feels better, then yes. But the answer to the spirit is still no. Can you forget all previous sin? Just as if I had never been born of flesh?Memory keeps us humble.

Scripture ... Romans 8:1 ... Context 7:7-8:17 sowvic, I base this on the word "therefore" which points back ... and the flow forward. Sin and punishment cannot condemn us. But, we still struggle with sin. Searcher |

8 | what sabbath rest in hebrews 4-10 | 1 Cor 6:11 | retxar | 25470
Heb 4:10 means we are to cease from trying to do good works as a means to obtain righteousness. God rested after creation, as the work was complete. We are to rest in the assurance of the work Jesus did on the cross, as the work was complete and we cannot add to. Anything we try to add, actually takes away (Gal 2:21) Jesus Saves! retxar |

Greetings sowvic! "(Ezekiel) 16:46-59 Judah is compared to Samaria and Sodom, whose judgment for sin was great. Judah was more corrupt (v.47), multiplied Samaria's and Sodom's sin (v.51), and committed more abominable sin (v.52)." [MacArthur NKJV Study Bible, 1997, Word Publishing] - Nolan |

14 | what is double post? | 1 Cor 6:11 | Makarios | 25653
Greetings sowvic! "Double post" has one of two possible meanings: 1) That the Question was submitted multiple times, 2) That an Answer or Note was submitted multiple times. In this case, it appears that "Double Post" means that Searcher56 meant to say "look at my other post on this tree, which would be the same answer here as it is there." - Nolan |
