1 | Denominations is shameful? | 1 Cor 3:4 | Joyce Ong | 92398
I agree. However, somehow my Catholic spouse sees his church as being original. Isn't that why the term "protestant" surfaced? I am not toointerested in history. I have enough on my hands struggling with THE TRUTH. When I first used the verse "We shall know the truth and the truth will set us free." My spouse said, "Your truth sets me free." He wanted a divorce. He sees my personal choice as a choice of disunity. I on the other hand tried my best to accomodate his wishes. We compromised and go to 2 churches. But he was still not happy that I am not worshipful in his church. My view is that he need to be concentrating on his own worship and not stand judging my worship or non-worship. *sigh*. I have since proposed an "agree to disagree" stance but he has turned a deaf ear and wants me to taste disunity by being uncommunicative and it is a quiet standoff. *sigh*

Joyce, May I suggest you ask your husband to discuss this matter with his pastor. I suspect he will be advised to respect your conscience and live in peace with you. These may be difficult issues, but they are not cause for divorce unless the parties try to force the other's conscience. The same situation often occurs when when spouse chooses to become a Catholic and the other remains Protestant. Emmaus |

WE had seen a Catholic nun who advised as such. His brother and sisters also advised him to respect my wishes but to no avail. He chooses to hold on to his own perception of me. He sees himself as flexible and I, closed minded. In practice, it is true, he is able to worship at any church, even my church. Nonetheless, with such flexibility, he chooses not to relinquish his own heritage, the Catholic faith and instead determines for me to surrender mine. He told me once, that I had the free choice but if I choose the wrong choice, I definitely faced the consequence of cold war, and ultimatums. Thanks Emmaus.
