Jman, From your previous post: "With out the overwhelming historical, scientific, and archeological evidence to support the Bible's claims, we might as well tell the unbelieving to believe in Santa Claus, Roudolph, and the Easter Bunny." I beg to differ! I for one was presented with absolutely no historical, scientific or archaeological evidence to support the Bible nor the claims of the bible. Ney! It was but one verse spoken to me from the word of God by a man scared to death for me as he (my brother) realized I was lost. I have to say brother, your statement reveals much. I will not pretend to know, but from your statement I do wonder of your faith in, and understanding of, God's word and the power of it. From your previous post: "On top of that, I point you to the Great Commission and ask you a similar question that you asked me. Who are we to speak for God? Why does God need our help in revealing himself? Apparently there is something we contribute when witnessing to an unbeliever because we are commanded to "Go" and "Teach". Obviously, it is not His need of our help. He is the God who spoke the world into existence. He needs nothing of us! He chose His children to be the vessel to go (don't miss this part) "teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always , even to the end of the age." (Matthew 18:20 NASB). And let it not be over looked, it is by His authority (v 18). We go brother, but we go teaching them all that He has commanded us. Not what the world would have us teach! And He is there with us. We are not there to do anything within our own power. Our part is simple. We obey! From your previous post: "Now, in the sources your mentioned, it is a communication between Christians. But look at Paul's message on Mar's hill. Where does he begin? He begins with using a altar attributed to "An unknown god" as his starting point. He used a secular religious Icon to witness. " No! He did not use a secular religious icon to witness. Your reaching here! He pointed to it only to point out their ignorance. His witness was preaching the gospel of God to them! Read more!!! Consider this same approach when you are ask a question by an unbeliever out of ignorance! Steve |

"For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, "This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased"-- and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. 2 peter 1:16-19 You see Jman? Peter said that the Scripture, is more sure then his even being an eye witness to the transfiguration! Don't you see it-?? Somehow Brother... I fear... you don't... sad... very.. very sad..... |

Wait a minute?! What's this? An eyewitness account of what happened? Isn't this .. oh .. what's the word I'm looking for?? PROOF?!?!?! Hasn't it sunk in yet what I am trying to say?? I believe the Bible inerrant and 100 percent true. I have a saving Faith in Christ Jesus and loving relationship with God the Father. I was saved at the young age of 5 years old before I knew what witnessing or apologetics or any of that ever meant. But the first time a person came to me and asked me if Jesus was real. I said yes .. there was no doubt at all in my mind. He was a high school classmate, son of a Baptist minister, and was then a devout muslim. He said prove it. I showed him the Bible. He asked me to prove the Bible was true. What was I supposed to do then? Pray for him? I did. Tell him to have faith in God? I did. Recommend him to a pastor? I did. I couldn't help but feel that no matter how knowledgable I was about the matters of faith and God's word and teachings, I had no answers for their questions about if this was real or not. He wasn't the first. Every single person I have witnessed to has asked me questions not about putting faith in God, but if what we believe is real. People like Lee Strobbel, Hank Henegraff, Bruce Metzger and Ravi Zacharias are almost heros to me. If you want further info about my training and background, fine. I have a BA in Biblical Languages from Missiouri Baptist University. My Father is a pastor, my mother was a sunday school teacher for years. I have read the Bible backwards and forwards several times over. I have studied nearly every passage in it's pages, and continue to do so daily. Each time I open it I learn something I didn't know before. So please .. with all due respect .. don't tell me what I see and don't see. I'm not speaking out of my butt. I'm not making claims without one iota of support. I can support everything I say either through research or personal experience. Jesusman |

Well, that's, quite impressive, but I haven't seen any evidence of your wonderful qualifications from most all of you numerous posts. Frankly and respectfully, I've not seen what you are espousing to. I can only suggest that you go back and read your Bible again. By the way, it has sunk in all to well my friend. You don't get it. I have been reading your boasting, for quite some time now, and frankly, my friend, I'm quite weary of it. Please, stop. 1 Cor 1:25-31 God bless John |

Greetings John! There are many times when brothers and sisters may disagree on certain issues. It is certainly a good thing to fully discuss our views and the supporting Scriptures. However, I believe your reply to Jesusman crossed the line my friend! :-( You have been a fine contributor to this forum, and I pray that you will continue with your past quality. But, I really think you owe Jesusman an apology for the very personal nature of your remarks to him. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

My dear Brother Tim, If I have sinned, I have sinned against God, if this is so, then for that, I am deeply sorry! Your Brother in Christ John |

Dear Tim. let him know what? That what I said is what I hold to be the truth? I don't think I would be being honest if I did that. Brother I am deeply sorry that Jman (Bruce) has left angry and hurt, and If you would like to fault me then you may treat me like the dog who eats scraps under the table, but it is God that can speak to Bruce and bring him back into fellowship. I did not chase him away, and I am not the one who can bring him back. Brother if you would like to talk to me about this mater please do so via email. As I have said it is God who has been sinned against, if there be any whom have sinned. I take NO pleasure in seeing a brother in distress, but if you have to play the man on the moral high ground to make me look bad you may do so, I am of no repute. Brother I don't think this is the place for too much discussion and I know you don't ether, so if you would like to continue the talk, please drop me a line. :-) God bless John |
