My dear brother, Jesusman, I have just finished reading thru this thread and I, too, would be sad to see you go away - you have contributed much, wisdom and grace - and, brother, no one can get too much of either of those attributes!! I used to get side-tracked in witnessing to others by those many types of questions. May I offer to you what someone told me? "Never let your conversation get off Yeshua, stay on Him and His words and His works." You are quite right, we are told to "go and teach." But we were never told to go and convince and convert. What we do is plant the seed. Just like planting a tomato plant seed. It grows, but we don't know how, but we peek at it every day expecting to see it grow - we don't have anything to do with it growing - we just plant the seed. It's the most wonderful thing in the world to be able to pray with a lost soul for their salvation, maybe I'm the odd one out but most of the time the person just walks away. But many years ago (I'm a 60's-70's Jesus-Freak hippie, remember those? :-) ) it was revealed to me, that those you actually do get to pray that blessed prayer with walked away many, many times before from others, when they got to me they were primed and ready, and just needed a little tender leading. Those that walk away, walk away with a belly full, they need time to digest things they've never heard before, and they will most likely walk away from several more witnesses before they "see the light." I know you already know this :-) I'm just bringing it to your remembrance, dear one. I do hope to see your posting here once again. I've been ill since last week and just returned here today - seeing that post was not a happy thing!! You're loved and appreciated here!! Shalom Cheri |

Dear Cheri, Very well put and encouraging. What you have depicted about your evangelizing the unbelievers reminds me of a book "the Sweet Potato Evangelist" written by a Korean (translated Chinese edition). He uses an analogy to describe those unbelievers as raw sweet potatoes with extreme hard hearts. Each time when he evangelize to his target and pray for him, it is just like using a chopstick to poke a hole onto the sweet potato. The more holes are made, the faster and easier the sweet potato get cooked and turn out to have a softened and tender heart .... then he is ready for conversion. I believe the main idea is to be perseverant in our evangelization. Shalom Azure |

Shalom to you also Azure, Thank you for the encouragement! We must remember that we "say" volumes long before we ever open our mouths and that's where the main witness comes from anyway. Cheri |
