1 | John 3:1-7 how can you say it's not true | 1 Cor 1:17 | punkiedo | 111336
You ask how someone can read Mark 16:16 and say that you have to be baptized I ask how can you read it and say that you don't? Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born of the WATER and THE SPIRIT to see the kingdom of God. Jesus also in the "Great Commision" said "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, BAPTIZING them in THE NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" (emphasis added) I am not just trying to get y'all riled up, I really want to know. Peter on the day of Pentecost said repent and be baptized EVERYONE of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye SHALL receive the gift of the holy ghost. If baptism was not a requirement don't you think that the disiples would have told Peter NO THATS NOT TRUE??? They were there too. They had been with Jesus. 1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: (1) to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge 2) to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water, to wash one's self, bathe 3) to overwhelm; Strongs concordance for baptism is baptizo (bap-tid'-zo) meaning immerse or submerse. or definition 2 says to bathe) Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, one faith, ONE BAPTISM, (emphasis added) Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. There is no question in my mind that you must be baptized. And you say what if you do it and didn't need it? I would rather look at the scripture and say it says I need to be baptized and get baptized and make it into the kingdom than to deny it and ultimately loose my soul. The bible says in 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. This tells me two things that I am responsible for studying this for myself AND that there are 2 ways to divide the word of truth the RIGHT way and the WRONG way. I have read enough of the bible to know that baptism is a requirement not an option. Jesus died was buried and rose again, when we repent we die to sin, when we are baptized we are burying the old mand in a watery grave and when we get filled with the holy ghost (evidence speaking in tongues as, the bible promises) we are risen with Christ. I just would like to know WHY in this crazy world you would say baptism is not required? |

2 | John 3:1-7 how can you say it's not true | 1 Cor 1:17 | compudex | 111337
Dear forum, Didn't you just say that the great commission was to preach and baptize? So now, does Paul call Jesus a liar? (1Co 1:17 KJV) "For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect." What do we say, "For Christ sent me not to baptize"? Did Paul know more than Christ? STOP FIGHTING AMOUNGST YOURSELVES ABOUT BAPTISM!!! The bantering back and forth does not exhort the church. If any unbeliever is looking at these posts they would think that even the So-Called-Church cannot come to an understanding. (1Co 1:14 KJV) I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; Why would Paul say this? Well, look at these posts. Like a bunch of felines sitting on the backyard fence catting and meowing at each other. Brethren, be like minded, Christ NEVER condemned anyone if they believed in Him!! So why do you? compudex: You offer simple advice, and on the surface you are right. If only there were a tollerance for one another. The problem is that there are some immature selfish people who insist they are right. Unless it's their way of understanding then you belief about baptism is wrong and you are not really saved. That dogmatic misunderstanding of Scripture is NOT in keeping with BASIC Christianity 101. There are some issues that there is no way to even suggest a different view of Scripture ie. Virgin birth of Jesus, His divinity, and His life ater death, just to name a few. When you ask us to just all get along, in some cases the people join the Forum just to stirr up the dung in their hearts. From the heart the mouth speaks. There is no reason to be rude, disrespectful, or belittling anyone. I personally attempt to abide by Lockmans wishes or I will leave respectfully. There is a young female who is pushing demominational bias that should be asked to leave. Perhaps soon the right people will notice. Blessings. justme |

Greetings, Of a truth you speak. Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. What else is there to say? compudex |
