1 | if i don't speak in tounges am I saved | 1 Cor 14:22 | CDBJ | 108599
Hello 8788, What makes you think you are saved? Is it just because it says so in Scripture, and you believe what God has said about His Son, Jesus? If your answer is yes, then you are saved and indwelt by the Spirit all at the same time; because God’s Word says so! It is not a matter of how you feel or the way you act, but what saith the Word of God. Some days when I wake up I feel about as spiritual as a carrot, but according to God’s Word I am still saved and still indwelt by the Holy Spirit! It’s not how I feel but what I know and the promises that God has given me! Ephes. 1:12-13 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, The Holy Spirit himself is the sealing, John 14:16-18 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Have a great day, by knowing truth, CDBJ |

Hi, CDBJ - Perhaps by pushing it a little, what follows might be considered a sort of corollary to the theme of your post: it is, I feel, vaguely germane. ..... Karl Barth is considered by some the greatest Protestant theologian of the 20th century and possibly the greatest since the Reformation. Barth was addressing a body of seminary students and at the end of his address, he opened to questions from the students. One student asked, "Dr. Barth, sir, what would you consider the most profound theological thought you have ever had?" ..... Without hesitation, Barth replied, "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so." ..... The seminary students must have been surprised to hear this world-renowned theologian give such a simple answer, quoting from a well-known hymn that little children sing. Don't we all at times tend to make the gospel of Christ too complicated? --Hank

Hi Hank, It’s funny to me that you should mention that little song that so many children have heard. That was the very song that ran through my head when I first accepted Christ as my personal Savior back in 1965. I had never heard the gospel message as a youth but I had heard that song, back when I was just a pup. When I started reading the New Testament that song just keep running through my mind. Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Isn’t the Lord just precious! John 6:39-40 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. Our God is an awesome God, CDBJ |
