1 | Why not Brothers? | 1 Cor 11:3 | Rob.M | 49721
I find many scriptures that do not quite fit in with the Trinity teaching. Here is one in paticular I would like someone to help me with. In John 14:28 Jesus calls the Father "greater that Him" How does this remark fit in with the context of the Trinity? And why is the relationship a Father- Son relationship and not two brothers?

I Corinthians 11:3--"But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and GOD IS THE HEAD OF CHRIST." Luke 22:42--saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; YET NOT MY WILL BUT YOURS BE DONE." Collosians 2:9--"For in Him(Jesus Christ) ALL the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form," Matthew 16:15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the SON of the living God." Matthew 16:17 And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but MY FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN..." [all emphases mine] Thus is the mystery of the Trinity. Why many people wonder how 3 can be 1, and 1 be 3. I don't have quite the extensive background as some of the more learned people on this forum, but here's a start: Jesus IS, WAS and will ALWAYS BE one with God(John 1:1). However, Jesus the Son does the will of God the Father. The best way I know how to say it is this: They are one in majesty and sovereignty; however, God is the head of all. Like I said, it's a start. And perhaps someone else can futher expound on this. May the blessings of the LORD thy God be with you always. 2nd Samuel 22 |
