Hi Ted I think the quote of C.H. Spurgeon given you by Bradk is most excellent. I have read all the positions of this written by the leading theological minds of various time frames and your right assuming none had any intent of malice they all end up with contrasting opinions. I also agree with Tim the Bible does tell us everything we NEED to know about it. I think the problem comes is that we are forced by our understanding to view time sequentially while God has no such limitation. God is able to view creation and the crucifixion of His Son and the time of Revelation chapter 22:21 all in the same instant of time. God can look back in our time and see the creation as if it was first happening while in the same instant see His son being nailed to the cross, while seeing Jesus riding the while horse to victory. While not I won’t go into specifics to prevent reopening old wounds I do feel we have to look at the overall flow of the scripture rather than seek for a verse here or a verse there to understand God perspective on this subject. In the end I expect to say oh wow as few times as we clearly what we now see as though through a glass dimly. EdB |

Thanks everyone. Its late, and it looks like I have alot to read. It looks like I will be investigating other possible sources of scriptures, but not quite yet. I want to investigate where the idea of a closed cannon arose, as that might be at the crux of the issue. Is that doctrine Biblical? I will see if it is. Thanks all for your help and good night.
