Doc, Not anything close to being in depth, only enough to know a little of the line of descendants. Any recommended resources? WOS |

Dear WOS, You seem to always use the best resources! :-) If you're interested, start with Ishmael and see what you can infer of his thinking from the various passages that mention him. Look closely at his relationship with his father. Then do the same with Esau. I suggest beginning with Ishmael and Esau because the Scriptures that describe them are much fewer. Consequently, it is a very manageable task! Also, I think you will see some very interesting similarities. Of course, we understand the Old Testament in the light of the New Testament. So if or when these guys are mentioned there, draw what you can from that, too. Now, once you've done this, just gradually absorb the stuff about Isaac and Jacob. I think you'll find that Ishmael and Esau are indicative of human effort, and Isaac and Jacob are indicative of divine providence. Sorry... I don't mean to send you off on a task or anything... it just was a study that I found to be a blessing. Too bad that Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the twelve sons didn't seem to learn much from their fathers! In Him, Doc PS I appreciate your participation on the forum! |

Doc, Thanks. It does sound like a study that I would find enjoyable and enlightening. I’ll do that. By the way, it’s my pleasure to be able to participate in a forum in which the Word can be conveyed and discussed and learned from by others who desire the same. I’ve definitely matured the short time I’ve been here and I honestly thank God for allowing forums such as this to remain active as well everyone else for their help and willingness to share. WOS |
