1 | Law of the spirit? | Rom 8:2 | bjh | 91454
You refer to other posts, I guess assuming you'd get some of those posters over here, so forgive me for "jumping in". Since you asked a "primary question", I thought I'd take a stab at it. I'd like to turn around your first question and ask..."Will the word of God be made better if we add pronouns of Deity where there weren't any to begin with?" My answer to both questions is, "no". As for Romans 8:1, the truth found in the KJV is found in Romans 8:4. (My thought being, if it is found once, it must be true.) With that being said, in Romans 8:2, we have "the Spirit of life". My Greek is a little rusty, but I don't think we can separate Spirit and life. As for your other point, I believe that it is the Holy Spirit that moves through the word of the Lord...perhaps to stir up our spirits. (Luke 24:32, although I may be reading too much into that.)...perhaps to convict (John 16:8-14), perhaps granting us "life and peace" (Rom. 8:6).... I guess what I'm trying to say is that I believe that the Holy Spirit is very active in our lives. B. J. H. |

2 | Law of the Spirit, life in Christ Jesus? | Rom 8:2 | Ray | 98344
This is a revisit to Romans 8:2 as I try to put into ink rather than pencil, a final draft. My physical problems with cancer are causing me more pain and the end may be nearer, so I want to put as much closure as possible to as many questions I put forth here on the forum. The question I first brought up was whether "spirit of life" would be an appropriate interpretation for Romans 8:2. I now agree, however, with the NASB and NKJ in their "law of the Spirit". I see these comparison verses and I welcome your comments or Amens. Romans 7:22 speaks to my mind of the law of (God) in the inner man. Romans 8:2 speaks of the law of the (Spirit), of life in Christ Jesus, which sets us free. We still need the Greek scholars to inform us of punctuation possibilities. Romans 8:5 speaks of "the things of the (Spirit)". Romans 8:11 speaks of life through His (Spirit) who indwells us. Romans 8:16 tells us that "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit", that we are children of (God). 1 Corinthians 15:50 shows us that we need to be concerned about the things of the Spirit and of the heavenly Man. Flesh and blood cannot inhearit the kingdom of (God). 1 Peter 4:6 says that even though we are judged in the flesh as men, we may live according to God in the *(Spirit). I welcome your thoughts. 3 | Law of the Spirit, life in Christ Jesus? | Rom 8:2 | DAIRYLEADER5 | 98345
Ray, you are right on the law of spirit. My thoughts are with Romans 9:4-5., Who are isrealites, to whom pertaineth the adoptionand the Glory, and the covenants, and the giveing of the law and the service of God and the promises, who are the fathers of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen. We have the spirit of adoption whereby we cry Abba, Father. He is a Jew which is inward not of the outward apperance. The law of the spirit is where we all as believers in Christ Become Jews inwardly and become Isrealites under God. Just my thoughts Ray. I know what your going throu and my spirit and prayers are with you , my Brother. DL5
4 | Law of the Spirit, life in Christ Jesus? | Rom 8:2 | Ray | 98376
Hi DL5, I appreciate your spirit and your prayers for me as a brother in Christ. However, please don't misunderstand me or agree with me on something that I indeed did not say. You said that I was right on the "law of spirit" [sic]. However, I had expressed that I would have "law of the Spirit" capitalized for Romans 8:2. The "law of the Spirit" compared well to my mind with the "law of God in the inner man", Romans 7:22. Looking at Romans 8:15 we are in agreement for choosing the reception of a "spirit of adoption as sons"; for the Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Romans 9:4-8 does not speak of the law of the Spirit however. Verse 5 talks of the Messiah, the (Man) according to the flesh; even the one God [and God is Spirit] who is blessed forever. So it is that verse 8 says that the children of the flesh are not children of God [for God is Spirit]. Rather, the children of the "promise" are regarded as descendants. And what is the "promise" if not the "spirit of adoption as sons" that we have received as believers. Let me hear from you. From the heart, Ray |

5 | Law of the Spirit, life in Christ Jesus? | Rom 8:2 | DAIRYLEADER5 | 98417
Hi Ray, I probably misunderstood you. All the verses you mentioned, I believe, is Pauls way of teaching us about a law not written by man but of God. Remember we as a gentile race use to worshep devils, because we never had any law accounted tous. But Paul is telling us thru Gods Son, we are not accountiable to the Spirit of Life in Christ. 2nd Cor 3:3.For some reason I keep looking back at Rom 9:6 I believe that there is a message there for the gentiles concerning the spirit of adoption.what do you think?
