1 | Gap and Pre-Adamic Man theories | Rom 5:12 | Lambo | 19788
I am fairly new to this site and am slowly finding my way around. This subject interests me because a new class I am in at church is teaching the "gap theory" with the "pre-adamic man" theory. I wanted to see what I could find here to help me in my study. I have read much of the discussions on Gen 1:1. I found DocSpock to be particularily helpful and informative and very much appreciated the way he avoided inserting his own belief. I will now throw out a few thoughts to see what you other brothers and sisters think. What if the space of time was after the creation? Do we really know how long Adam and Eve lived here in their perfect fellowship with God before they fell? Would it be likely that Eve took the advise of a serpent if she had not been conversing with it previously? And mustn't she have been accustomed to talking to creatures or she would have been alarmed? And would she really have known the full extent of her curse or punishment in having pain in childbearing if she had not previously had children with no suffering? Adam would I suppose always remember how easy it had been to dress and keep the earth prior to thorns and such. I just have a hard time believing anyone can go from that kind of relationship with God to high treason in a short time. Again just a thought but I would like comments. Thank you and God Bless you all. |

2 | Gap and Pre-Adamic Man theories | Rom 5:12 | Jensen | 19789
Dear Lambo...All of the thoughts you threw out are valid concerns. Your main concern however, considering the experience you had with your past church, is probably weather or not you can trust the teachers of your new church to line up with Scripture. That is something that we all must constantly check. But I just want to address one of your thoughts. The subjects being taught in your class are the "gap theory" and "pre-adamic man" theory. If there was a great "space of time" after creation that would mean that Adam and Eve, when they walked in the Garden, were actually walking on a graveyard. It would mean that death, which came about because of sin, had entered the world before Adam an Eve. If that is what they are teaching I do not think that the teaching lines up with the Bible because RO 5:12 says "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned--.." So when did death enter the world. It entered when sin entered the world according to the Word of God. Here are some sites that you may want to check for this subject and some of your other thoughts as well. www.answersingenesis.org www.icr.org www.creationscience.com God Bless....Jensen |

Here's a few more sites to add to yours: http://www.drdino.com http://www.angelfire.com/mi/dinosaurs/ This site has an excellent article on the gap theory. Too bad this site does have "live" sites where you can just click the url. :) Are they studying these subjects showing them to be true or false? |

If it was me personally, I'd argue w/them till I was blue in the face, bring them evidence from these sites, etc and if they persisted in thinking that, I'd get out fast. What do they think about Jesus raising from the dead after 3 days, do they try to explain that away too because it's not consistent w/current "scientific" theories?
