Catholics believe in God, yes...but they also believe people need to keep the commandments and do good works to 'get to Heaven'. Scripture cleary says that we (those who put their faith in Jesus) are 'justified by faith apart from observing the law'. Romans 3:21 starts off with "21. But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify." In the Old Testament the blood of animals was needed...and it was only a temporary solution. They needed to sacrafice constantly. But Jesus Died on the cross, shed HIS BLOOD for our sins...canceling the Old Testament part where animal's blood was needed. And this he only needed to do once...not over and over again. Jesus is THE LAMB of God. |

brenda L, But we are not to disregard the commandments of our Lord either. Matthew 22:37 And He said to him, " ' YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' John 14:15 " If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. John 14:21 " He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him." John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, " If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. John 14:24 "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father's who sent Me. 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. no, of course not. When I mentioned commandments I was referring to the 10 Commandments. And there is no way anyone can keep all of them. Where is it written where it says something about just breaking one of them you are guilty of breaking them all? And isn't God's greatest commandment Love? Love in Christ, BL |
