1 | what about inerrancy? | Rom 1:29 | Morant61 | 36858
Greetings PJG! Great Question! The easiest answer is that inerrancy only applies to the original autographs, not to the copies of them. This takes a little getting used to since most Christians aren't aware that there isn't one BIBLE which was simply handed down complete from heaven. What we actually have are some complete copies and lots of incomplete copies. However, all it not hopeless! Not one variant reading in the Bible affects any doctrine. Most of the variant readings have to do with word orders or spelling. Very few are that important. If you are interested in pursuing this topic, I would recommend picking up a good book on the issue. 2 | your recommedations? | Rom 1:29 | PJG | 36860
Is this covered in the books you recommended earlier? (Harold Greenlee, "Introduction to New Testament Textual Criticism", and Bruce Manning Metzger, "The Text of the New Testament") |

Greetings JPG! I don't think those books go into the issue of innerancy. You can do a search on the internet. Here is a link to John MacArthur's comments on the issue: http://www.gty.org/IssuesandAnswers/archive/errorfree.htm If you do a search of book titles with Innerancy in the title, you can find some good ones. Try to stick with some well known authors and scholars. Good systematic theology books will also go into quite a bit of detail on this topic. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
