1 | fornicaiton not listed here, is in Greek | Rom 1:29 | Morant61 | 36307 | ||
Greetings Pjg! The Textus Receptus included 'fornication' in Rom. 1:29. However, that reading is not supported by very many manuscripts at all. The only ones which do include it are: L Phi 88 236 330 and 614 - all of which are late dated manuscripts). Since the earliest manuscripts do not include the word, it was most likely added by mistake when 'poneria' was accidently read as 'porneia'. Thus, the newer translations do not include 'fornication' but do include 'iniquity'. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Greetings PJG! On the web, I would do a search using the words 'textual criticism greek'. One site I found is: http://www.ntgateway.com/resource/textcrit.htm I haven't read it all, but it looks like a good site. If you have access to a good Christian bookstore, I would recommend the following books. a) Harold Greenlee, "Introduction to New Testament Textual Criticism", Wm.B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. b) Bruce Manning Metzger, "The Text of the New Testament", Oxford University Press. There are both good introductory texts about textual criticism. I hope this helps!
