Is the sin of adultry or fornication any different to homosexualility?
2 | adultry and fornication same as homosexu | Rom 1:1 | kwhale53 | 189836
In 1 Corinthians 6:15-20 the Lord speaks of a Christian being joined to the Lord and being one spirit with Him, so that if such a believer joins himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her. Paul asks the question, "Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute?" and answers his question with "May it never be!" The same principle applies to the act of fornication or adultery. However, I think the Bible teaches that the sin of homosexuality involves a deeper corrupting influence, as in Romans 1 where Scripture says three times that "God gave them over" to a worsening depravity in verses 24, 26, and 28. And this defiling process began with a simple refusal to "honor Him as God or give thanks" (v.21). But let's not forget as well that Jesus teaches us the real problem lies in our hearts, where adultery arises from along with other evil abiding within. Matthew 5:27-29
3 | How does the above relate to serving | Rom 1:1 | ceebee7 | 189851
Thank you so much for yr reply. Scriptually, does adultery and fornication prevent a person from serving in the church in any capacity? This of course is when, there is knowledge of the sin. |

4 | How does the above relate to serving | Rom 1:1 | stjohn | 189874
Hello ceebee7, Good question, The verse you have posted seems to indicate that this person perhaps is in a leadership or teaching position? If that is so, and the situation is unresolved, I would say that they should not be allowed to stay where they are. But, however, I don't [In my opinion] think that they should be restricted from working in [any] capacity, like say mowing the lawn or cleaning the toilet perhaps. Also, If this person is not willing to resolve the sinful situation that they are in, and someone has confronted them, and then if two, or more have confronted them, and they refuse to acknowledge their sin, and repent of it, then you should treat that as you would a tax collector, and that means to shun them. But if they still wanted to clean the floor, or mow the lawn, I'd say suite yourself friend, go ahead. But again, if they repent..... Luke 17:4 "And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, 'I repent,' forgive him." God bless. John |

5 | Acceptance of evil??? | Rom 1:1 | ceebee7 | 189928
Thanks John for your reply. The verse was not posted by me, but interesting all the same. We are quite hardline and it is always good to have the counsel of other believers not associated with the situation. Do you think serving in the church, ie ushering or any other serving area within the church is a good example of scripture. Do you think that it maybe perceived be as accepting the situation. Many thanks, Ceebee |

6 | Acceptance of evil??? | Rom 1:1 | stjohn | 189954
Hi Ceebee, Thanks for your reply, and another good question. I hope you don't think you are number two on my book, ;-) but I answered Steve [humbledbyhisgrace] on this matter, and I hope my post to him will answer your question. It certainly seems that the early Church, was a lot more holy then the Church of today. If you like read, Acts 5, I believe it gives us a good idea as does the whole Bible for that mater, on how severely God looks at and deals with sin. Unfortunately your problem is not new, or rare, in the Church, how much more affective we would be, if we truly were holy and separate form the world and the sins of the world. God bless. John |
