1 | Why does Jesus have 2 genealogies? | Rom 1:18 | ateo | 67518
Chris, Thanks. I read the site you referenced. It gave the same explanation others on this forum have given, namely, that one line was Joseph's and the other was Mary's. Since I don't buy this line of reasoning for a second, I was hoping someone could give me an explanation I hadn't heard before. ateo |

Dear ateo, Greetings in the name of Jesus! Friend, what explanation would you like to hear? The 'line of reasoning' you deny is quite plausible. Many scholars for close to two thousand years have wrestled with the 'differences' in the Bible. The sum of their studies is: 1)The Bible IS the infallible word of God, the minor 'differences' are really a matter of vantage or incomplete knowlege, and their significance dims in the light of Truth; or 2)The Bible is just a story with little credibility. After studying the lives of these scholars (both kinds), I find that I much prefer the fruit borne of the believers. Now if we talk about 'normal' people, like you and me (unless you are abnormal! :-)), I also tend to look at the difference in fruit. From another post I gather you once believed, but now don't. And you seem bent on proclaiming the 'mistakes' of the Scriptures. Have you found peace and comfort in your quest for accuracy? Do you bear the fruit of joy and hope? Let me hazard a guess: Something (usually someone) hurt you, so you blame God, the Bible, and-or the church. I doubt seriously that you 'came to your senses' by the light of pure, analytical truth. If I am wrong, and you claim to enjoy the kind of good fruit promised in the Bible, then you are either a rare Gentile or living in denial. If I am right, then return to the Lord, ask for this fruit, and the Bible will again make sense. Blessings and peace in Christ Jesus, charis |

3 | What explanation would you like? | Rom 1:18 | ateo | 67556
Charis, "Friend, what explanation would you like to hear?" I don't have a particular one in mind, and hence, the reason for the question. The problem I'm having is that people who believe this explanation have no moral qualms about changing the wording of the Scripture. The author of Luke never mentions Mary in the genealogy, yet they see nothing wrong with "helping" the writer tell the story. "...unless you are abnormal! :-),..." I certainly consider myself to be normal. However, there are those who would STRONGLY disagree! :) "Something (usually someone) hurt you, so you blame God, the Bible, and-or the church." Nope. It's not that complicated. However, I'm not allowed to give the details on this forum. But, if you want to discuss it 1-on-1, feel free to e-mail me anytime at jl_huff2002@yahoo.com. ateo |

ateo, Colossians 2:8 (KJV) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Without faith, salvation is impossible. Without trust in the Bible, virtually everything contained is open to doubt. Are you truly convinced that you once believed in God and trusted His word? But now you do not and will not? Perhaps your questions about genealogy and pi are bound to your answers to these questions. Indeed, return to the Lord! Rather, find Him whilst He calls! Praise the Lord! |
