1 | Are we Stupid or Lazy? Our Soul at stak | Rom 14:12 | New Creature | 89413
graceful I enjoyed this post you asked; "Why do people ALWAYS turn to people for the interpritation of Gods word?" I have recently had those same thoughts myself. The reason I came up with is, because out of laziness, or what some people say, I haven't got time, I'm too busy, they allow others to do all the work of studying for them, and then just blindly accept what men say Scripture means. However you and I both know, that Scripture does not always mean what men say it means. But people accept what these men say. Maybe part of the reason people accept what men say as true is due to how many PHD's or initials of doctorates a person has after his name. I mean shouldn't these learned men know what the Bible truly says? Unfortunately not always. Someone once commented that it takes a man four years as a Seminary student to be taught that the Bible doesn't really mean what it says. From experience,I have come to believe that statement. 2 | With knowledge comes pain and responsibt | Rom 14:12 | GeorJoy | 89426
I once read, "You can buy books, but you can't buy brains." I would add, "you can pay for and earn a degree, but intelligence is free." Unfortunantly if it dosen't come with a price tag, most people overlook it today. Yet, if there is a price to pay, they don't want to pay the price. If I interpriate your comment correctly, I believe we both agree that it would be best to stear clear of the Seminary, or in the very least, to be prayerful and wisely discerning. It seems to me that the worlds history in my lifetime has already been recorded in the New testiment. Doesn't it you? I'm so thankfull that our Lord has blessed so many with the knowledge of what a Pharisee really is. That they would pass their knowledge on without fear of shame and rebuke; that they would feed the flock with the PURE bread and teach them to fish for themselves, is my prayer. George |

3 | With knowledge comes pain and responsibt | Rom 14:12 | justme | 89430
GeorJoy :-) Hi again, this is justme. I would add that anyone with Biblical knowledge is not always a spiritual person either. Just because someone has NOT attended seminary does not mean they are Biblically ignorant. Nore is it correct to make statements that a seminary education is something to be considered as harmful or not worth while. With all higher education the student must look at what school they are intterested in, and if it is Biblically sound. This stands for welding school to any course of study. May I suggest that many dedicated solid doctrinaly sound Christians have paved the way so we can grow in the Lord and His Word. Look at the Bible you read from, were it not for seminary educated scholars you proberly would not have the Bible of today. I suggest that intelligence is NOT free. Rather intelligence cost someone in either hands on experience or in a learning as a student. Yes, you can earn a degree, but learning is NEVER free. Wisdom is better than Gold or any costly thing. I would ask you to question if ignorance is better than education? Is it easier to cut a tree down with a sharp axe or a dull axe? Seminary is the honing of becoming a skilled minister so they can minister to those who have intelligence and are not persauded by telling them the Bible says so. With CPE in the clinical setting many ministers have learned how to be there for the grieving, the terminal ill and their families. The world is full of ignorant, (perhaps lazy and stupid) Christians attacking and chewing one another up. May I suggest that unless the teacher has more learning and genuine spiritual life, then that of the learner, little taught or learned. That is one important reason seminary education is a good investment by those who are called to go. I agree that not all seminaries are worth going to. However the ones that worth while, are a treasure, worthy of investing your money and your time into. That's one way to have sheperds that know how to feed the flock pure bread and to share how to fish. Without brains (the ability to read) books are usless, no matter what the cost. I try not to lump all people, places, or seminaries into one box. Any thouhhts? Blessings. justme |
