It's almost funny. My carnal desire is to say "yea, I know that." But the truth of the matter is that I didn't. Even though I did have all the facts. I simply hadn't put them together as you did. Thank you my friend. George |

George You placed this on the question list but it contains no question. Graceful will see it anytime you respond to their comments if they have notification turned on. Let me add something to what Graceful said. The people wanted a king. Why? Not for the reason they stated to be like everyone else. They wanted to deal with a human rather than God. Why? God deals in absolutes while man's reasoning can be clouded to see situations. Their hope was with a king they could justify their actions rather than have them scrutinize by a perfect God speaking in absolutes. Studies have shown people resist the concept of absolutes, they want to believe there is situations that even God hasn’t conceived of. I believe this is one reason people resist God’s word today they don’t want to face the absolutes it presents. If they can get another man to read it and then present it to them they have a chance to argue/debate a compromise. People always want to have wiggle room and with God there is none. That is what is so interesting with today religion the compromises and wiggle room that has gradually crept into it. God called His people to holiness, we have changed that to mean we wants us to be nice, that has now changed to if it hurts no one then it must be okay. Through this wiggle room false teaching, gained a foot hold and the fight to drive it back is nearly impossible. I sat in a room full of pastors at a meeting on abortion when one pastor said “I don’t see the harm in abortion”. If a young girl is going to have her life destroyed by having a child what harm is there in aborting it now. Another piped up and said “And what about cases of rape and incest? Should the girl be punished by having to carry the baby to term.” They wanted to apply their situational ethics to God’s mandate thou shall not murder. People don’t read the Bible because they don’t want God messing with their situational ethics. EdB |

Thanks for the info Ed I'm just starting to get used to the forum, and I must say, it is more than a little confising. Or perhaps I'm just getting old (which I am proud of, cuz everyone don't have that opporitunity.) Ed, concerning your metting with the room full of pastors; am I so wrong when it makes me seeth with anger when I hear of such atrocious words coming from the mouth someone, in particular a man of God, (I want to say "a (So called) man of God,) one who is intrusted with His living word? George No is should make you angry, but it shouldn't surprise you. Jesus repeatedly warned in the last days false teachers would rise, people would seek them out having their ear tickled, man would violate God's word and He God would turn them over to their own lusts. The churches are filled with such and people are accepting and supporting them. I was in a ministers conference and a man who was having a famous revival in his church was the main speaker. During the course of evening he told a dirty offensive (to me) joke. Instead of being shocked or insulted the Pastors laughed and applauded. The next morning in the same conference another man said, “since "so and so" told his joke last night I will tell you mine”. That statement alone proved to me no one mistook what was said the night before. He then went on and told a dirty joke that even blasphemed Jesus and again was greeted with applause and laughter. I was shocked and walked out. Now remember this was started by a man having a big "famous" revival being a keynote speaker in a pastors conference. EdB |

Ed "or a reprobate mine." Perhaps you should change your screen name to one a little more discriptive of your gift. Once again, you have touched on one of the points of my original post. For some reason, I hear a little voice within saying that there are those who will read these posts who will say; "Are these guys crazy!? What are they talking about!?" Already there is a spirit of argument herein, who would argue, yet in its arguing it says precisely what it argues against. "Those who see (or read,) but do not see." "Those who hear (or read,) but do not hear." George |
