1 | Why LJC instead of just Jesus? | Acts 16:31 | Searcher56 | 27217 | ||
Scripture ... Acts 2:36, 11:17, 16:31 ... "Lord Jesus Christ" appears 61 times (the first in Acts 11:17) and another 20 times where the three names appear together. Acts 2:36 may give us a clue. Jesus is both the Christ (Messiah) and Lord. We need to accept Him as that, tho some teach we do not have to make Him Lord at salvation. Jesus (YHWH saves) is His birth name (Luke 2:21). Christ (Messiah) was His mission and Lord is now His position. There is also "Lord Jesus", first appearing in Luke 24:3, of the 38 times. "Lord Christ" (Rom 16:18, Col 3:4). El Shaddai is Lord Almighty, in Hebrew (Gen 17:1) and is Kurios Pantokrator, in Greek (2 Cor 6:18). Hope this helps, Searcher |
